Rs. 225. I picked it from Saravana Stores.
I reckon my love for Colorbar lipsticks began in 2005 when these were around 99 rupees. Gradually, these could be brought home at a decent 150 or 199 rupees, but now, these are Rs. 225 and totally worth it considering the current market of Streetwear and Maybelline (Maybelline deserving the price tag but streetwear 😯 never ever!!!!).
I think after Colorbar, Maybelline Moisture Extreme holds my favourite kind of shades and I have mostly bought all of them (not reviewed yet). Colorbar has an array of beautiful wearable colors for the Indian skin tone and some gorgeous plums, pinks, maroons, browns and peaches. My most favourite lipstick from Colorbar, which no longer is manufactured is Terra from the longstay lip color (those slim petite ones). I am still holding on to that tube of the old Terra and desperately trying to find a good dupe, which is equally matte and long stay like Terra.
Last month, I happened to find a decent range of Colorbar in Chennai’s Saravana Stores and I had to pick up some as I found Colorbar here after a long long time. I picked up some, amongst which was Demure. We all know Colorbar had creamy matte earlier and then it became velvet matte and the packaging became round and holds a little lipstick at the base like NYX round lipsticks. It’s a hearty serve of 4.2 grams and the texture is creamy and flat with no shimmer and frost. The color is moisturising and when I say this, it means they do have some velvet matte ones which are frosty or shimmer or matte. This one is smooth but not so creamy, decently pigmented, and has a moisture finish, so it’s a great buy for those who don’t like matte, shimmer or frost in their lipsticks.
Demure is a deep pink color, almost a lighter maroon, and is very much like their own Desire and Desire is still available in the new packing. Desire is a more matte version of this and is thick and pigmented and Demure is lighter. Their Candy Apple (mine is around a year old) is a very matte version like the Lakme Nine to Five ones. Then, the Brick o La dupe; Brick o La is more maroon and creamier you can say, but still close to Demure in my opinion. If I had to pick one out of all four, then I would pick Desire as that shade brightens up the face a lot and is more creamier and matte, so I love it. Demure is definitely nice for lighter maroon lovers. It goes on pretty smooth and pretty in one swipe and nice for office too.
I found the Demure one a lot staining than the others. Brick o La stains a lot too and so does Desire, but considering the texture, Demure should not have stained so much, but it does. So I was a little upset about the mystery ingredients that must have gone into it. Nevertheless, I recommend Desire out of them (Candy Apple too, but its harder and long wear and matte). If you are okay with staining lipsticks, you can try Demure too!
