My Experience with Colorbar Blend Away Foundation Sponge Wheel:

To begin with, these are colorful and attractive, and make the whole process of blending the foundation a whole lot of fun. The perky, attractive colored wedges set the mood to begin your makeup, and we all know that ‘a strong foundation is the key for good makeup’. These small wedges come in four colors in 8 pieces where you get four of pink, two of purple and two of mustard yellow or a bright yellow. They are very purse friendly where you can pocket it on the go when you are probably going to opt for a simple makeup.

From my personal experience, the impromptu last minute plans happen all the time. Although I must admit that I enjoy them for the strange thrill that they give me. As a mere mortal, I do lose my cool sometimes when I am blamed for not being on time! It might sound cliché, but true story. Mostly it is fifteen minutes prior I know the actual plan and the details.

I am very choosy about the ‘what the overall look reflects’, be it the makeup or the outfit, so that’s rather the story of my life, outings are just a part of it. Times have changed but some things do not change. So, let us say I have stopped reacting to the small audience. I mean after all only we are best loved with a sleepy face, or maybe ‘she is jealous’ or ‘he is mad at the traffic’. 😛

Well it could come as a consolation when you want to have things go smooth and that is when I am happy sponging my face with my compact or a little bit of my foundation. I got a black clutch that is a savior where I have everything stored to use it on the go. It could probably be compared to ‘Hermione’s beaded bag’ only that I did not cast any extension charm on my bag or clutch. Point is, I carry a full sized bag or a clutch that would have it all at once

It is time to wrap up the small girl talk; I shall now be going to the details of these blend away foundation wedges. As far as these wedges go, there is nothing big to lose or gain. It is a little of sponging experimenting and if you have used their flat sponges, you would have a fair idea about these wedges – the difference being mostly the shape. These handy, tiny slices of sponge cakes that could have been bigger to solve a better purpose as far as their sizes go. They give a good experience as a slice of this candy blend well when used either ways – whether used directly, or after dabbing small amounts of the foundation. The latter is done sometimes when we want to mix colors depending on the desired colored for the complexion.

I use different colors for different bases like oily, lighter base and so on. It is easier to maintain that way and the colors make it easy to differentiate the products. The moisture retention capacity of these sponges is fairly good and for the price they come for, they can be a safe bet before you become a pro at the art of makeup. These wedges would be best to start off with when you are taking your baby steps towards the world of makeup.

The shape of these sponges have a tiny advantage of being able to concentrate on areas that feel are out of the reach of your palms and angled in a way like the crease, but do not a expect a spot-on flawless finish. It is best before you get a hang around of things and depending on the experience eventually you can always invest or opt for high end sponges.

If you are not used to sponges before or you are not someone who currently is into strictly the ‘blending away’ concept, these could always be a savior to remove excess product when you in the middle of your make up and struggling with it. Otherwise also, these wedges could a mini travel friendly back up for the pros who find the happy feeling when they are ‘blending away the beauty’. I think I have summed up all the details regarding the product. A gentle disclaimer – with time, the shelf life of these sponges can deteriorate, so they require good maintenance and even so, do not get too attached, or be willing to invest in more sponges as they are bound to lose shape with time.

Also it might not be user friendly with all kinds of cream. So it might be disappointing when they cause breakouts or when they crease. Do not expect great results. These just make the entire process of blending a little easier and fun. Grab a slice of these wedges when you want to keep the a simple makeup yet safe when the best makeup tools are missing.

Pros of Colorbar Blend Away Foundation Sponge Wheel:

• Packaging – simple, black, plastic pouch that has a small plastic round white lid where you can store the sponges
• Affordable
• Travel friendly – comes handy during rush hours for a quick face do
• Easy to store and maintain
• Clear label specifications
• Delectable eye catching bright colored sponge wedges – can be used for different shades
• Safe bet for beginners
• Shape – the design of the wedge shape sponges makes you able to work comfortably on areas that are angled like bridge of the nose , sides, under eye
• Perfect for simple, everyday, basic makeup

Cons of Colorbar Blend Away Foundation Sponge Wheel:

• Size of wedges are too small to work around with
• Apt only for simple makeup as the blending process can be time consuming
• These wedges can be a little tricky for beginners
• The low shelf life as these are too fragile and might easily deteriorate

IMBB Rating:
3/5

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Colorbar Blend Away Foundation Sponge Wheel?
I would not repurchase for now as I got the entire set and to add to that, I got peppy duo as well. Looks like I am all set. I would recommend these foundation sponges if you are looking for a not-so-serious sponge that would serve the purpose, but not in a strictly flawless way.

Verdict:
Definitely not flawless! With these blend away wedges, you can expect a little bit of fabulous and a lot of fun when you are on a serious all day duty call.

  1. I bought similar stuff 2 weeks ago and yet to use them. It was very exciting before I could buy ‘cos in my head i was imagining how smooth my skin would be blah blah but once I got them the excitement seems to have died (like with so many other products).

Ok coming to the real questions: Does one damp them before using? also, can this be used for putting under eye concealer? my problem with my concealer is that it doesnt stay long (I am using the MAC prolong wear so its a pretty decent brand too). will making it slightly damp help? have you tried?

    (Thanks in advance)

    1. To go onto the details, you can wet these a bit but like I mentioned do not expect a long shelf life from these wedges. Since you would have 8 pcs it should not be a problem. Since they are triangular they really work well with concealing the eyes. You can expect results. I would like to add that a little bit of dampening would always help with this or any blender when you want it stay longer and in place. I have tried. Like you mentioned, Colorbar is a decent brand so you can expect mediocre results. If you are looking for a serious beauty blender, this is probably not it but if you got similar ones they would not disappoint you much. As far as the excitement part goes I totally agree with you 🙂 With me I am onto getting excited over my next product on the plate! Story of my life 🙂

I hope I answered all your questions and it helped !

  2. I have used the other sponges that colorbar offers and I don’t feel that these are a necessity. Good for touch ups and blotting but these cannot replace beauty blender.

  3. You nailed it Shikha 🙂 Any day blenders. I popped them into my cart as I found them to be extremely cute. It is a problem when you step foot into stores so yea maybe touch ups they are lying in my purse

  4. These look like candies. He he. I don’t use foundations. I only use bb creams and blend it with my fingers only. Does these work with bb creams? I might get these just to see if i can work with sponges. And ofcourse, for their cute looks. 🙂

    1. Hey Priyanka *wave* Sorry about the delayed response. Long time no see 😛 hehe…I am still finding out if I am foundation or bb cream person 😛 and yes these cute little wedges definitely work with bb creams. I always would support you buy something cute 😛 A general tip, you can use these wedges or any blender to blend a little bit of foundation in case your apprehensive about using foundation and work with a considerably more quantity of your bb cream. Look for the colors you use to blend. I hope it helped !

    1. Yea and there is no better place than IMBB. My list goes on and there is no thing as bucket list anymore I guess 😛 HF in case you are shopping for anything. Happy shopping 😀
