Hi beloved readers!
Spring is in the air ladies and so is the buzz on the valentines week. I hope everyone must be getting ready for a date with their beloved for valentines this Saturday. I was looking around for some lip colors in n*de and light pink shades that were wearable for office. I was particularly inspired by the lip colors worn by Priyanka Chopra in the movie Gunday. I find her skin tone so much alike the major Indian crowd and love the way she is capable of carrying red lips on the red carpet, as well as the subtle colors. When I saw Colorbar had launched some pretty shades in pinks with undertones of orange, red and brown; I was more than excited to try them.
Colorbar has launched 10 beautiful colors, which shout of spring and summer. All shades are wearable everyday. There is only one red and one orange among them. The orange one being Deep Rust, which has been already reviewed (click here for the review).
When I went to the Colorbar counter, the SA told me that this particular shade Deep Coco is a best seller with them. I loved three of the other shades apart from this, but I decided to go with this one for the present buy. I believe we all crave for “mera wala pink”, “mera wala red”; check out if this is “mera wala n*de”.
675 INR for 6.0 ml.
My Experience with Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Crème Deep Coco:
Packaging: The Colorbar lip crème comes in a see-through plastic tube with a silver screw cap. The package is sturdy, leak proof and travel friendly, so there would be no spillage of product. The shade name is labelled at the bottom on to a silver sticker. The applicator is a long wand with a doe foot sponge. It takes up adequate amount of product for a single swipe. The shelf life is of three years, but I think I would finish it off much before that :p . I was, however, surprised when I didn’t find any ingredient list on the packing carton. Quite unlike Colorbar!
Texture and Color: The lippie is rich and creamy in texture and glides like a dream over the lips. A very luscious and buttery feeling. I would agree to the “ultra-silky”claim of Colorbar. It isn’t drying or tugging as in most of the matte lipsticks. It feels light over the lips and has no added fragrance. Not that I have a sensitive nose, but I would count it as a plus point of this lip crème. Deep Coco is the darkest shade in this deep matte collection and looks like a whipped chocolate mousse. The pigmentation is another wow factor in the product, a perfect depth of pigmentation used. I have pigmented lips and the coverage is too good by these lip crèmes.
This lip crème is capable of giving an illusion of fuller lips, so thin lips can use this to accentuate it further. The color is an everyday color be it office, get-togethers, shopping spree or evening wear. It would look great if you want to create a bold eye statement with low profile on lips; something like how Karishma looked in the grand finalè of Big Boss (psst… it was the only season I followed of Big Boss to find out how people get addicted to this show). I would recommend this to all age groups and is suitable for all skin tones.
The color takes time to set and after it is set, it comes up as a beautiful color with a semi-matte finish. It doesn’t feel a complete matte at the very instant you apply it. For a more matte effect, you can blot it on a tissue paper or apply some powder compact over it. You can skip the lip liners as it doesn’t bleed. The product is highly transferable and would stain your teeth if too much of the product is used.
The matte lip crème doesn’t flake away or dry down to become powdery on the lips. I skipped using lip balm before using it and I had no complaints. Usually, matte lipsticks make my lips extremely dry and the need to exfoliate them arises too often. With this product, my lips were softer even after hours of donning it. I would suggest exfoliation of lips as it might look uneven on dry or chapped lips after it sets.
The product comes through light snacks, but dies completely after a heavy meal. Unlike the pink shades like Deep Blush, it doesn’t leave behind much of a stain. I cannot comment on the staying power as I usually have my meal after 4-5 hours after applying this. There are no issues with removing it from the lips. Facewash and water or baby oil will completely remove all traces.

4/5. Yes I would still give it a 4 as compared to the other mattes I have used so far.

Yes. There is a variety of shades for everyone and each one is beautiful.
Would I repurchase Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Crème Deep Coco?
No, not the same shade. These lippies are like a treat, I would love to buy the other shades in the same collection, maybe the red one.
Until next time girls. Stay tuned.
