I own a lot of contour kits that I have collected across various brands. I reach out a lot for the Makeup Revolution Trio kit. This contour and highlighter kit I found recently at a mall and picked it up immediately. They have just one color palette so far and looks decently priced at INR 850. Take a look:
A palette featuring a shadowing powder paired with a shimmering luminizer for a beautiful, naturally contoured look. Highlight, contour and add dimension to your face for a natural sculpted look.
Perfect for all skin types, this lightweight palette gives you everything you need for perfectly defined features. Contouring is when you use a product that’s two – three shades darker than your skin tone to shade areas you’d like to define or reshape, like your nose, forehead, chin, and cheekbones. Now to get the shadow effect you have to use and blend dark shade. Highlighting (or strobing) offsets contouring by accentuating areas of your face with light highlighter. To properly highlight or strobe, use our highlighter that flatters your complexion to emphasize the areas of your face that naturally catch the light. Our highlighter have golden base pigments making sure its neutral for all Indian skin.
Application: Choose the Right contour Color for You , Always Choose a shade which is much darker than your natural skin tone.
Find Your Contours. Apply along the hollows of your cheeks (the best way to find the right spot for application is to make “fish lips”) Sweep on the product. Blend in well. After the same, go for Highlight. For a bit of definition in your cheekbones, apply highlighter in a diagonal line from just beneath the centre of your eye socket up towards your hairline, and blend.
My Experience with Colorbar Flawless Touch Contour and Highlighting Kit:
Okay, so let me start with the problems with the product. The highlight should have been lighter and more shiny. It does not catch light the way my other highlights too. The highlight has a very fine duochrome pinkish tone to it which reflects when it catches light. I have fair to medium skin tone and still the highlight does stand out. If I layer it on, it might feel like I am wearing a shadow on my cheek bones. The highlight actually feels like a shadow to me, not my favourite tone in a highlight.
The brown is so stark, it is hardly meant for any other skin apart from deeper olive skin tones from very hot countries. The contour needs some blending because it is so deep, that it might feel like I have pigmented skin.
This color is toned right but too dark a brown for my skin. I need to apply it with a very light hand to work with it. On my nose, it really stands out if I contour with this brown. It is very matte but a wrong brown for me and for many. The highlight also does not have the exact iridescent which I like.
Pros of Colorbar Flawless Touch Contour and Highlighting Kit:
- Brown is totally matte.
- The highlight is light enough and has very fine shimmer to catch some light.
- Good sturdy packaging.
- Smooth enough texture.
Cons of Colorbar Flawless Touch Contour and Highlighting Kit:
- The pinkish duochrome feel to the highlight is not to my liking.
- The brown is too stark for any skin tone I feel.
- The brown needs some serious blending.
- The highlight does not catch light the way I would have liked it to.
- No mirror or applicator.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Colorbar Flawless Touch Contour and Highlighting Kit?
I don’t think so. The colors did not click with me or my skin tone. I own a lot of contour kits which give me better highlight and contour that matches my skin tone.
