Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30 Review

Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30 Review

Hola people!

How have you all been? I have been on and off on IMBB, because of the current busy schedule that I am having , all with managing studies, my cousins and friends (who constantly crib that I don’t give them time 😛 ).  It’s a busy time all in all. However, I feel, that the busier I am, more is the effectiveness, in whatever I do, provided I do not overdo myself and give undivided attention to each of my chore. And after all, you do not need to find time for something or someone that you love. Time finds you in that case, isn’t it?

Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick

Coming to today’s product, I can’t tell you how hard it was for me, waiting to review it, such an excellent product it is. *happydance* See, I should not have said it in the first line itself, but I just cannot help it. *happydance* When you have waited so long for a product, which finally has all the factors you were craving for, you tend to blabber, and I think that’s exactly what I am doing. So ladies, the product that I am going nuts over, is Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick with SPF 30, and I think it will be better if I start my review now, before I blabber more in the first paragraph itself 😛

Price/Packaging/Description/Ingredients:

The Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30, comes in a silver cardboard packaging, like all Colorbar products. The actual product inside is of traditional Colorbar silver color, in the shape of a lipstick, i.e., a twist up retractable packaging. Very handy and a super convenient packaging which you can take anywhere with you. It is a bit bulky, if you compare it with the Maybelline BB Stick, in weight that is.  You will realize this if you take one in each of your hands.  Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30 comes at a price of Rs. 675/- for 9 gm, pricey? Yes, it is, but trust, it is worth every penny you spend on it. However, I was lucky enough to get it at half the price using my online credits. *happydance*

This stick comes in 3 shades:

001 – Fresh Ivory

002 – Au Natural
003 – Warm Beige (The shade that I have purchased).

Now, the shades are something where most of the brands in India just do not seem to get the concept of variety. Ideally, according to Colorbar, Shade 001 – Fresh Ivory, which is a cool-toned shade, is for people with fair skin, 002 – Au Natural for medium skin (neutral tone) and 003 – Warm Beige for dusky beauties with yellow or warm tones. I am a medium skin tone person, tilting towards fairer side, with strong yellow/warm undertones, and the shade 003 – Warm Beige was a perfect match for me. Can you get the problem here? What about fair skinned people with warm tones or medium tone people with cool tones? What about the dusky beauties? If I am person with medium to fair complexion, and their “supposedly” darkest shade is my perfect match, what about the countless people with skin tone darker than mine? This is India and we have “n” number of shades here, which the cosmetic companies very conveniently choose to ignore. Anyway, I count myself lucky to find my exact match, and thank God, I was sensible enough to order shade 003 and not 002 as suggested, purely on instinct.

My Experience with Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30:

Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick comes in a stick form, and claims to be foundation and concealer in one, and that it controls oil, with SPF 30. This was reason enough for me to pick this one up. It smells chocolaty, exactly like the Colorbar Pout in a Pot lip stains.

I applied this at around 11 in the morning, brushed a little of my Lakme Absolute compact, and went to my friend’s place, in a non-AC car. The reason I am mentioning this is, that it took me around 20 minutes to reach her place, and it is damn hot here. But, when I reached her place, this foundation did not streak or smudge or in any way budge. I looked fresh and my skin tone perfectly even.

I stayed at her place, till 5.30 in the evening, and my skin got just a tiny bit oily around the T-zone, nothing more which could not be managed. She even complimented me in the evening that my face looked fresh and even toned, which is a big thing, given that I am literally an oil tank. Nothing stays on my face that long.   After that, I went out for some shopping, then dinner, and by the time I reached home at 9, my face looked a bit tired, but the foundation faded just a little bit. The staying power is excellent, although it might be a bit less if you out on a sweaty, humid day.

Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick

Since it contains SPF 30, there was no tanning. You can just put on a normal gel sunblock underneath, or whatever you use, and then put it on. However, this depends on person to person, whether you need something underneath or not. It feels very creamy and moisturizing, but in spite of giving a creamy finish, it does not turn greasy at all, and that is the best part about it. The dewy cum matte finish. As you can see in the pictures, it does not leave a white cast even, in spite of the high SPF content.

This gives medium coverage, which can be built up. You can go sheer, medium or heavy with this one as it conceals all the areas you want to. You can even layer it up, and even though it feels a bit heavy initially, it will not embarrass you by making you an oily and sweaty tank in a few hours.

Summing up:

Pros of Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30:

  • Very convenient and classy packaging, travel friendly.
  • Does not feel heavy on skin. Feels very creamy but not greasy.
  • Controls oil and moisturizes at the same time. So, good for both oily and dry skinned gals (second one is my guess, due to the creaminess of the product).
  • SPF 30, so no fear of getting tanned. Also, does not leave a white cast.
  • Excellent coverage, which can be built up from sheer to medium to high, without any uncomfortable or overly heavy or greasy feel on skin.
  • Very good staying power. Stays for whole day, when you are in and out of AC, plus survived a short shopping and subsequent dinner, about 8 to 9 hours. Might be a bit less if you are out for the whole day.
  • No parabens.

Cons of Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30:

  • Pricey (but worth every penny).
  • Limited shade selection.

Can’t find any other 😀

IMBB Rating:

4.8/5, this is a perfect concealer cum foundation, which is worth every penny you pay for it, provided you find your perfect shade.

Do I Recommend Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30?

Of course yes, subject to shade selection.

Would I Repurchase Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick SPF 30?

Yes, yes, yes!! I just hope Colorbar does not discontinue this wonder stick. *scared* A multipurpose product, which conceals, covers, gives a healthy matte cum dewy finish, protects the skin with SPF 30, and nourishes your skin with jojoba oil and shea butter, all that without making your skin oily or greasy. It is a must have!!

Hope you found my review useful. See ya all next time 😀

  1. seems like a must have product *woot* , lovely review I am definitely giving it a try next time btw you grabbed it at a really good deal 🙂

    1. Yup that’s y my mum says that I have a knack of striking gold in online deals and rewards *duh* *duh* Actually prefer to get something that I am using for the first time, at a discount, if I can get it..n this one was for 675…a big sum would have gone down the drain had it not worked..but now that I love it I can easily repurchase at the actual price..its soooo good.. *happy dance* *happy dance*

  2. great Kadambari 🙂 you know, we have a similar brand named color studio here and it has same range of products like colorbar except the brushes 🙂

    1. Yup it does…although I have mild darkness below my eyes..nothing major..but this beautifully even tones and conceals *happy dance* *happy dance*

  3. Wow that sounds like a dream Kadambari *woot* I have been on the lookout for good foundation and I will definitely check this out at the store *happydance* but did this break you out? *scared*

    1. Nope it did not…usually if a new product doesn’t suit me..I get to know in the morning in the form of red skin n breakouts…happened with my Lakme Absolute Blush can u believe *cry* *cry* but this one did not break me out *happy dance* *happy dance*

  4. This reminds me of a concealer stick colorbar used to have years back. It used to be awesome. Guess they have redone the formula and have relaunched it as a foundation stick. Looks truely awesome. 🙂 good review kadambari 🙂

    1. Thaaanks Rati ma’am 🙂 this indeed is a wonder product…the only problem is shade selection..I was lucky to find my shade *preen* *powder*

      1. I had also heard that Colorbar had a concealer stick some 4 5 years back..glad they have revamped it with additional features and launched..its an awesome product *happy dance* *happy dance*

  5. I am in search for a good foundation. I got Mac studio fix powder plus foundation which everyone so raves about but I hate it, can you believe? Didn’t suit me one bit. Must be wrong shade selection or something. Wish I get my shade in this. *hifive*

    1. Keep your fingers crossed…it is a really good deal if you get your shade..just moisturize your skin before application if you have dry skin 😀 😀
I dunno but I personally feel that now Mac products are not so raved about, in spite of the brand quality and the hefty price you pay for it *nonono*

        1. U know I have read in an article by an makeup expert that oily skinned beauties shouldn’t apply stick concealers because they clog pores and break u out even more. Instead they shoud go for liquid concealers and foundations. I don’t know how true is that but I’m a little confused. *scared*

          1. Oh..actually stick concealers feel light on me..this is my first..I tried maybelline stick but there was no shade for me there..this did not break me out 🙂 however if you have sensitive skin then I do suggest some preliminary testing 🙂

  6. this is not really expensive if you compare it to Kryolan or Bobbi – not sure if it matches upto the two brands. But this does look promising. My kyrolan stick has lasted me over a year and before I switch to bobbi i will surely give this one a try (bobbi is extremely expensive and I thought it gave the same look n feel as my kryolan so held off the purchase for a ‘special’ time to splurge!)
