I have become a crazy fan of dark lipsticks in recent times. I am sort of obsessed with brown these days. I checked this shade (Brunette) on the Colorbar website along with another shade “Ginger Bread.” I was a little confused about the shades and went to a store. And guess what? I bought them both! My Experience with Colorbar Matte Touch Lipstick Brunette:
I love the packaging of Colorbar products and this one is no exception. The outer silver paper carton contains all detailed information on the lipstick. There is a color-coded sticker at one end of the box and at the bottom of the silver metallic tube of the lipstick as well. Though it is color coded, the shade range cannot be determined from the shade of the sticker, so you have to remember the names of the shades. I wish they had some color-coded caps for the lipsticks. The bullet is angled like typical Colorbar lipsticks and the initial uses are very neat with the sharp-edged bullet. The cap shuts with click; hence the lipstick is travel friendly.
This is a true deep chocolate brown shade with a hint of red. This looks super dark and beautiful on dusky people. Many other chocolate brown shades available in the market are lighter than my skin tone and looks washed out, but this suits me perfectly.
Also, the redness is not evident on hand swatches; however, the hint of red is evident on the lips. This probably happened as I applied it on bare pink lips. If you apply a brown lip pencil underneath, the issue can be sorted.
The texture of this shade is super smooth and glides on lips like butter. Though it is categorized as matte, the application is super creamy. After a while, the color settles to a matte moist lip color. The shade is so pigmented that one swipe covers my pigmented lips. If you want to intensify the look, you may use two swipes. It makes the lips soft and if you do not have dryness issue, you can skip lip balm beneath. This lipstick leaves the lips soft and moist, even after fading away.
Without any lip liner or base, it stays on for 4-5 hours. It is not a dry matte lipstick, but a creamy matte one, so it fades when you eat or drink something. However, the fading is even and it leaves a deep brown stain behind. The stain looks good and I do not have any issue with it.
