Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Oh My Magenta Review

Off late, I have been really put off by Colorbar Velvet Matte range which used to be fabulous in terms of quality and texture around two years ago.  Since they changed the packing to round (like the NYX Round lipsticks), they also have changed the quality, pigmentation, and the texture.  Now, these aren’t as smooth, creamy, matte or velvet like the name suggests. Worst of all, these stain a hot pink all the time; the deeper the shade, the worse the stain is!

Unfortunately, I hauled Colorbar from my Bengaluru trip thinking maybe its just me and only a few shades stain.  Hence, I bought a lot of these and a couple of “Colorbar Soft Touch” lipsticks, which are much better; but I was wrong.  All non-nude shades stain and the texture is nothing that I want.

The texture of the lipstick is hard and thick and it has an oily sheen. There is no creaminess in the application, it feels like some color stick or some sketch pen in terms of color.

The color is hot pink and rightly named “magenta.” The shade is a light magenta and a hot pink. When you swipe it once, it feels like you have used some lip tint. On more swipe and the lipstick looks oily.  I really hate the finish, its neither creamy nor matte sadly.

The lipstick transfers easily. It feels sticky and not something that I like in lipsticks.  Overall, its a very average lipstick and I am sure most of us have used better shades and textures than these.

When you remove it with a tissue, it stains your lips dry.  You really need to use an oil-based remover, but even then it stains.  You need to go more than once definitely to remove this lipstick and the horrid pink stains!

Last Word on Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick:  Oh My Magenta:

Why would anyone want an average staining lipstick for Rs. 250 when there are so many better lipsticks in our Indian market.  Colorbar themselves have better lipsticks in their “Soft Touch” range, but these ones, I do not recommend at all.
