My Experience with Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick You’re Incredible:

Needless to mention, the “Velvet Matte” lipstick range from Colorbar has a gigantic collection of about 50 shades. Huge and confusing, isn’t it??? Anybody who has ever asked me for an affordable matte lipstick, this is the first range that strikes my mind instantly. Now, let’s get started with the packaging.

Packaging: This matte lipstick bullet comes housed inside a shiny round silver tube with a transparent cap on it. The colour of the shade is clearly visible from the top of the lipstick bullet and you can peek through the shade of the lipstick inside. This type of packaging makes shade identification a lot easier. On the body of the tube the brand name is written in black font. No details about the ingredient list is mentioned anywhere on the packaging. The shade name and quantity detail is also provided at the bottom of the lipstick case via a sticker. The cap shuts with an audible click. The packaging is very sturdy and you easily carry it around everywhere. Overall, I love the simple yet classic packaging of this lipstick.

Shade: Colorbar “You’re Incredible” shade is a super gorgeous deep burgundy colour with a mix of brown undertones to it. It will flatter people with all undertones. But, this shade will look quite gothic on fair skin tones. So, I feel medium to dusky skin tones can rock this shade better. It instantly brightens up the face, but this is not that suitable for daytime wear as it might look too bold. It is perfect during parties and wedding occasions. Plus it has a matte finish, so it is definitely apt for long-day wear without frequent touch-ups.

Pigmentation: This shade is perfectly pigment packed. It is high on pigmentation with a super-rich colour intensity which is great for everyone! A single swipe is all you need to get opaque coverage but it needs slight pressing to occupy the lips properly. It covers lip pigmentation well. For my lips, I had to apply two coats of it for obtaining the best colour pay off. The quality is really good at this price value.

Fragrance: This lipstick has a very pleasant vanilla fragrance. Personally, I love vanilla scents, so I have no problem with this odour. It should not be a problem for sensitive noses as the fragrance is not too overpowering.

Texture: As per the product description, this lipstick gives a velvet matte finish on application. The texture isn’t drying kind of matte. It is more of a creamy matte lipstick which gives velvety finish upon application. It does not have any sort of shimmer or sheen in it and gives a beautiful definition to your lips. It has smooth application and does not tug lips much. It is buildable and adjusts well to layering. I loved this formula, even though it has a matte formulation it never dries out my lips. The nourishing formulation of this lipstick is due to presence of Vitamin E in its ingredients list which promises to keep your lips look healthy always. But I would not say that the creaminess in this lipstick is sufficient enough to meet the requirements of overtly drying lips. It is perfect for normal lips.

The formula glides on very smoothly and very little product is needed for total coverage. So, this lipstick feels extremely comfortable on my lips. It has a feather light formula and does not feel like I’m wearing something on my lips. However, this one definitely is not a transfer-proof lipstick as the formula is not fully matte. It does transfer slightly, but the colour intensity on the lips does not vary much due to this. It does not crease or accentuate the fine lines of your lips. Another thing about this range is that they do leave a prominent stain upon fading. I have found the same thing in all the other shades as well. You might count this thing in the demerits list.

But, it does not crack or flake off. So your lips do not feel chapped after wearing it. Since the formula is matte, but to avoid highlighting any sort of patchiness or settling into fine lines, exfoliation is necessary. I usually prefer prepping my lips and moisturizing it with a lip balm to avoid any sort of dryness. Other than the exfoliation part, I absolutely have no complains about its texture and quality.

Staying Power: This lipstick lasts for over 5-6 hours without food or drinks. The problem with this lipstick starts after having heavy meals as it gradually starts to fade away from the centre of your lips. So, wearing time is pretty good but these do transfer a little. As I already mentioned before that these do leave a stain after fading, I do find it quite ridiculous. If you have no problem with staining, then it will be perfectly okay for you.

However, it is pretty easy to reapply this because, it does not feel tacky at all. It is quite even and does not get messy. The lipstick can be easily removed with any make up remover.

Overall: For a lipstick-freak girl like me, who keeps juggling between different brands, the velvet matte range from Colorbar is a decent purchase and I am more or less happy with the purchase. Especially, because it does not feel heavy on the pockets and has a good performance as a matte lippie. I feel this shade is great for Indian skin tones and I do recommend it to the readers.
