Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara Review

Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara

Hi my beautiful pals!!

Last weekend I went for Dedh Ishqiya!!! Excellent movie and a must watch, and as far as the beauty factor is concerned, Madhuri Dixit is beyond comparison. Even at this age, she is so beautiful, and looks so graceful and poised as Begum Para, a true Lucknow begum. And her dance, my god, she flows on screen. It was a treat to watch her. And of course I loved everyone else’s performances too, the whole movie actually. Do watch!

Anyway, after this review *hihi* , let us come to today’s product. It is the Colorbar Zoom & Whoosh Mascara!!!! This is my third mascara after two Maybelline ones ( Hypercurl & Colossal my favourite ). Naturally, the expectations had to be high if the predecessors are good. Let’s see how this one fares on my ratometer.

The Mascara comes in the same silver cardboard outer packaging which is common for all Colorbar products. It comes at a price of Rs. 650 for 9 ml of product with a shelf life of 3 years (although nobody should use it for that much time. I learned through IMBB that mascara should preferably be replaced every 3 to 4 months. I got it online for 585/- INR on discount *happydance*  The product itself is very cute looking in pink and black colours. Check out all the details in the pictures below.

My Experience with Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara

First of let us discuss a very interesting aspect of this mascara. It has dual wands. Check out the pictures below and then I shall explain what does it mean.In the first picture, when you screw open the pink cap, you get a thin wand which is good if you want natural definition. In the second picture, when you screw open the silver cap, you get a fatter wand, for dramatic definition.

Now, although it was tad risky, (PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS WITH YOUR PRODUCT) , I unscrewed both the caps to show you, that it is one wand. You can see that the thin wand is actually thin enough to fit inside the fat one. Nice packaging and quite intelligent I must say.
Coming to the quality of the product, the mascara is good enough. I went for a day out, used the thin wand, and got perfect natural eye. For another day out, when I needed more definition, I used the fatter wand. You can see the difference in the EOTDs coming up.

The mascara is light weight, in literal sense. I did not feel any weighing down on my eyes on application, but, at the same time it did its work, i.e. giving definition. Thumbs up. However, unlike my Maybelline Colossal Mascara, one has to be a little bit careful while applying multiple coats, as this one takes a while to dry. So, if you are in a hurry, skip this one as you will need few seconds ( 20 to 30 ) before applying second coat. Otherwise, it will clump your lashes, and I hope you all know that if your eye makeup goes wrong, you are in one big trouble. You have to start all over again after removing everything.

The volume which it gives is not “over the top” dramatic. You can use any of the wands for a day time look, they both are subtle enough, if you balance it well with the rest of your make up.This mascara does not flake. So this claim also hold true. And, and and.. it is waterproof. However, since it is light in texture as I explained above, you can remove it easily with a makeup remover. Personally I like Johnson’s baby oil to remove.

One more thing which I noted was that, Maybelline Colossal, no matter how much I love it, made my eyelashes course and stiff at the end of the day. So I was pleasantly surprised when this Colorbar one did not do that.  yipeeeeeee)

With the thick wand :

Pros of Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara

Does not
weigh down eye lashes.
Does not make eye lashes course and stiff (my case, it may differ)
Does not sting.
Does not flake.
Is waterproof but comes off easily with baby oil or makeup remover.
Interesting packaging.(two wands in one mascara)
Two different wands for natural and intense look.

Cons of Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara

Can be pricey for some. It has two wands but for that you can buy two mascaras also with two different wands for the same price.
Availability may be an issue. Not available on every web portal online.

IMBB Rating:

My Ratometer rates The Colorbar Zoom & Whoosh Mascara (I love the name :D) 4.25/5 (points deducted for price and limited availability) Yes, I do recommend and I may purchase it again (depending on my student budget ).

Hope you liked my review. Till the next time bye and love you all.

  4. The package says it’s waterproof but it is absolutely not. The mechanism is amazing and it’s great to groom your lashes with both the wands. BUT it smudged all over my eyes with just a little bit of water.
