Liquid lipsticks have been all the rage these past few months. Ever since I bought my first liquid lipstick, it’s like I have ditched all of my other glossy and creamy lipsticks for good – such is the power of a good liquid lipstick. Liquid lipsticks give you the perfect coverage, they are insanely pigmented and last a fairly good amount of time, so much so that you don’t have to worry about re-applying them meal after meal. So recently. I did a little Colourpop cosmetics haul. I mainly purchased their liquid lipsticks as the brand is famous for that. One of the shades that I bought is “Airplane Mode.” It is described as a dirty peach color. So read on to find out how it fared for me.

My Experience with ColourPop Airplane Mode Ultra Matte Lip:
Packaging: Colourpop liquid lipsticks come in the standard liquid lipstick packaging that somewhat looks like the packaging of a lip gloss. The glass tube is sleek and comes with a metal brush handle. The applicator brush that it comes with is hassle-free and I personally don’t see any problem with it. All in all, it is a very fuss-free packaging and I have no complaints.
Shade: “Airplane Mode” is described as a dirty peach color. This liquid lipstick is true to its color. Unlike other ColourPop liquid lipsticks that dry darker than the shade that appears in the tube, Airplane Mode doesn’t, hence it’s true to its color. Airplane Mode is a light peach shade with yellow undertones. It could be a tricky shade to pull off. If worn without full face of makeup, this shade looks absolutely hideous, as it did on me when I first tried it when it arrived on my doorstep.
Airplane Mode is quite a tricky shade. You need to carefully coordinate the rest of your face makeup when wearing this shade. Also, this shade won’t really suit dark skin tones in my opinion.
Texture and Pigmentation: The texture of ColourPop liquid lipsticks is really smooth and they glide on to the lips pretty easily. I usually apply this liquid lipstick in two thin layers and so it applies on to the lips without much creasing and blotchiness/ patchiness. Once dry, these liquid lipsticks feel like you’re not wearing anything on your lips. They dry super, super matte and I love the final outcome once the liquid lipstick has dried. They don’t make my lips dry, I don’t ever need to reapply the liquid lipstick and when I touch my lips, it feels somewhat powdery in texture, but it doesn’t transfer at all. This lipstick is smudge free. The pigmentation is insane. Even if you apply it in thin layers, the lipstick is great in terms of pigmentation. All you need is two swipes to make the color last all day on you.
Longevity: Thanks to the insane pigmentation and it being a liquid lipstick, this Colourpop liquid lipstick easily lasts on me 8+ hours and that too with meals in between and I am talking about proper meals here. The lipstick just does not go away. It is also smudge-proof and it hardly transfers.
Pros of ColourPop Airplane Mode Ultra Matte Lip:
- Pigmentation is superb.
- Cruelty-free liquid lipstick.
- Lasts almost the whole day on me.
- Dries completely matte.
- The shade range is wonderful.
- Nice peach shade to wear with smoky eyes if you can pull of this shade.
- Doesn’t feel heavy on the lips.
- Very affordable.
- Doesn’t transfer one bit.
Cons of ColourPop Airplane Mode Ultra Matte Lip:
- I can see some cracks appear in it after a few hours.
- Application can be a bit streaky if not applied in thin layers.
- Shade might not suit all darker skin tones.
- Not easily available, considering you have to order it online.

I won’t recommend/repurchase this particular shade but other shades, yes, definitely.
