Today’s review is on another shade that I had picked up from the newly-released ColourPop powder eyeshadow range. So, let us jump right in and see how this “Criss Cross” works:

Criss Cross – This matte brick orange will make you wanna jump jump! Highly pigmented shadow that applies evenly and feels ultra-velvety and silky. This long wearing formula contains a unique combination of softer powders which adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly. Tips: Apply with your favorite shadow brushes. Flat and firmer brushes will give the most color payoff. Fluffier brushes are great for blending. Use a small angled brush to line the eyes.

My Experience with ColourPop Criss Cross Matte Pressed Powder:
Shade: “Criss Cross” is a deep, dirty brick red with warm undertones. It is fairly unique in my collection – it isn’t red, it isn’t orange. It is like a mix of red, orange with a bit of brown. It is the kind of shade which is all a rage nowadays. Before picking this, I was wondering if it was similar to Makeup Geek Morocco; however, it isn’t! “Morocco” is fairly red-der and brighter than this. However, once applied, it does seem more red than dirty orange red.
On my medium NC30 skin tone, it shows up easily. In the EOTD below, I have used it on the lower lash line and also to deepen the outer V of the eye.
Texture: The texture is soft, creamy and ever so lightly powdery. It is very smooth and finely milled – almost like a creamy matte and applies smoothly. It does kick up a bit of powder when you tap your brush into it – but nothing too bad. I generally tap my brush post picking up the product, so I don’t have any fall out either. This one was probably the smoothest of the lot that I picked from ColourPop.
Pigmentation: The shade has excellent pigmentation – the best performing one from the ones that I had picked up; super pigmented and smooth, which is a delight when you are talking about a matte powder product. The finger swatches that I have shared, the one for Criss Cross is a single swipe!!
Another thing, when I swatched this shade with my hands, my fingers got stained, but thankfully, did not stain my eyelid. This is something I generally don’t watch out for. However, I recently used an Indie brand and the purple stayed put despite double cleansing – I wasn’t too happy about that!
Staying Power: I apply my eyeshadows over a primer because my lids are way too oily. The shade gave about 8 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. Unlike the shade “Running Late,” this one did not crease.
Pros of ColourPop Criss Cross Matte Pressed Powder:
- An interesting matte brick red shade.
- Very soft and smooth to touch.
- Excellent pigmentation.
- Blends out easily.
- It does not emphasize the texture of my skin.
- Had no fallout.
- Does not stain the eye.
- Excellent wear time.
Cons of ColourPop Criss Cross Matte Pressed Powder:
- The shadow kicks up a bit of powder, it isn’t too bad. However, considering how pigmented this is, it would be a travesty to have your base makeup getting spoilt.

A stunning, in-trend shade, excellent pigmentation and smooth texture. This one is a winner and something that I do recommend. This might not be something which would be too easy to wear, if you are into neutral shades. How-ever, it is a fun shade to experiment with!
