ColourPop Drive In Ultra Matte Lip Review

Going ahead with the “liquid lipstick” theme, here is the most affordable brand – Colourpop. This brand has a huge shade range. I have been wanting to try a purple shade for forever and that’s exactly what I picked up from the brand Colourpop.

My Experience with ColourPop Drive In Ultra Matte Lip:

This liquid lipstick comes in a clear plastic tube with a silver twist-up cap. The applicator is a regular doe-foot type, which helps in easy and precise application. The brand name is printed on the front of the tube and the shade name is printed on the bottom of the tube.

According to the site, “Drive In” is described as a mid tone bright magenta, which I don’t agree. On me, it’s more of a purple shade with a bit of a pink undertone. It completely justifies the name “ultra matte.” It is extremely matte and can be a bit drying. It works best when the lips are exfoliated well and moisturized. The pigmentation of this liquid lipstick is crazy.

It’s very opaque, smooth and non patchy, which I like about them. I have noticed minimal transfer on glasses while drinking which is a win-win scenario for me. It stays on for hours with moderate amount of eating and drinking. This also dries down within 30 to 40 seconds.

This one does settle into the fine lines of the lips which is a turn off for me. I have tried various liquid lipsticks brand till now. For me, the definition of a liquid lipstick is something that sucks moisture out of your lips and stays put for hours. But after trying Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick, Jouer, and Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, I cannot stand these kind of drying liquid lipsticks. Jeffree, Kat Von D, and Jouer liquid lipsticks feel so comfortable, pigmented and long lasting that I reach for them more than Colourpop ones, yes, these have a better shade range, but these dry out my lips like crazy.

They are the best in this price range, but these aren’t the best liquid lipsticks out there in the market.

  1. Love the pop of colour (no pun intended). It’s such a fun shade that it’s a shame it’s so drying. Bhawna, do try Como by Stila which is a good dupe with much better wear and comfort.
