ColourPop Roundhouse Pressed Powder Shadow Review

Hello ladies,

Continuing with my Colourpop eyeshadow reviews; I thought I would be through with the review of all the shades last week itself; however, it has been a bad week with recurring migraines, so I have been off the screen. Running migraine right now too, but trying to distract myself with makeup instead. Let’s see if that works!

My Experience with ColourPop Roundhouse Pressed Powder Shadow:

Packaging: The eyeshadow comes in individually packaged plastic sleeve. The same is then enclosed in a cardboard cover. There is no ingredient name or product name on the sleeve. The product name is mentioned on the flip side of the eyeshadow itself. Colourpop keeps the sleeves constant for all shadows (instead of personalizing each as per the shadow. This is understandable because it helps to keep the cost down for the brand. And as far as consumer is concerned, it doesn’t make a difference as we will anyways pop them out into a magnetic palette. You will need a magnetic palette to store these – the pans do not have magnet at the bottom.

Shade: The shade “Roundhouse” is described by the brand as a cool brown color with a semi-matte finish. To me, it is a deep, cool-toned, black brown. It has a hint of charcoal grey in it – which comes through when paired with more cool-toned shades. In the light, on closer look, you see a hint of shimmer interspersed hence, the “semi-matte” tag by the brand. However, in application and usage – it works pretty much like a matte shadow and the shimmer isn’t really discernible.

Texture: The texture on touch did not seem as smooth as the shade “Facet.” There was a bare variance. However, in performance, it was pretty much on par. It is finely milled, not too dense and not powdery either. I did not experience any fall out with it – which is great considering how deep the shade is. It was easy to work with a blender.

Pigmentation: The shade is pretty good. You can see the swatches I shared – including the one with a single swipe of the product. The shade applies easily and shows up true to pan in a single swipe. Yet, it was easy to work with and control – in terms of pigmentation.

Staying Power: I apply my eyeshadows over a primer because my lids are way too oily. The shade gave about 8-8.5 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. This shade does not crease on me.

In the FOTD – I have used it in the outer 1/3rd of the lid, to create a smokey outer V.

Would I Recommend ColourPop Roundhouse Pressed Powder Shadow?
The shade performs well and was easy to work with. While, it is a more basic shade and probably won’t be one which you would rush out to get at the earliest; if you are new makeup lover and are building your collection – this could definitely form a part of your stash. It would work well for a deep shade – while not being an actual black or brown.
