How to Control Greasy Facial Skin in Late Teens:Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Poonam R. asks:

I am 18 years old, college girl and I have extremely oily skin but luckily no pimples or spots. But I am fed up of this oiliness. As soon as I wash my face and follow my CTM routine, my skin gets oily within an hour. The first thing my friends notice is the oil on my face. I don’t understand what to do. I use FabIndia Tea Tree Wash, Lavender toner, and Green Tea moisturizer from same brand. Should I apply a primer to hide this oiliness. Please suggest how to control this greasy look.

  1. Hi poonam, Do try Lakme Intense white perfect radiance cream the one is tub not in pump..
It works amazing removes oiliness from your face..
Am applying that in my cleansed facial skin and my ready to hit the day..

  2. Oil control bloating papers or wet wipes must help you out. Many oil control products end up clogging pores. Natural sebum flushes out impurities.Over-washing the sebum or using oil-control product can create problem for your clear skin. I have got oily skin that never broke out. but since I tried various oil control products , it broke out. use wet wipes!it will help you for sure.

  3. Hi poonam
i think the products u are currently on are not meant for u
skip them and see the diff
also never overdo scrubbing and washing it will make u oilier 🙂
try some oil control kind of cream lucky u have no pimples.
yes tissues and blotting papers all day long is a very good idea

  4. hey poonam…plz try neutrogena moisturiser for oily skin and clean n clear cleanser it might work for you too babe!!

  5. thanks poonam divya and tarannum for suggestions i do use blotting sheets and please tell me some herbal products which you think are going to produce less oil i have use them all be it lotus or fabindia i will follow your suggestions religiously

  6. try using a primer…. i would lovingly have suggested mac matte here (i have reviewed it on imbb), but since you are a college going student, i am not too sure…. i have heard oriflame makes decent primers too…. give them a try before you invest in something expensive….
also, keep a compact handy, like all the time! along with tissues (again, not suggesting expensive blotting papers to a college student).. check out maybelline dream matte compact and lakme….

and trust me when i say compact…. i’m 26, and still struggling with an over-production of oil on my face, if not for primers and compacts!

  7. Rub some egg white on face after washing your face in the morning. Wait till it drys up(2 mins) and rinse with lukewarm water. This clears up most of the oil with regular usage. It tightens pores as well, if you have any

    1. great remedy, but urgh! hate the the smell,I add a drop of clove oil (meant for tooth-ache!) to the egg white, that takes care of it 🙂

  8. Use mud-packs,lotus herbals packs work great for me for removing excess oil from face, also carry a pack of baby-wipes or facial wipes infused with essential oils(e.g-lavender oil, eucalyptus oil)and wipe face whenever it starts feeling oily,(typically every 1.5hrs),works well for removing grime the oily surface collects in traffic too.

    1. Hi Poonam,

I don’t think you should apply compact to a face that has been with makeup for too long. Suppose, you have your makeup only for 1 or 2 hours and then your face gets oily, you can apply compact, but otherwise, if it has been for more hours, it would lead to break out and pimples, so avoid doing that

  9. Yes Vani 🙂 We are here, but I don’t think you should apply compact to a face that has been with makeup for too long.
