My Experience with Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid:

This AHA whitehead power liquid has 7% AHA, which is pretty much mild if you are already used to these kinds of exfoliants. AHA and BHA are chemical exfoliants, and they are liquids which do the same action as our physical scrubs. I started using them when my acne was suddenly “rejuvenating” all over my face and physical exfoliators did not do any good for my damaged skin. And to battle the scars, I was in need of exfoliators, and I turned to chemical ones.

You can find those in various forms like liquids, peeling masks, peeling jelly and so on. These all could be done at home because they are in low concentration, and the product manufacturers could believe us with these concentrations not to burn ourselves. The most commonly used AHAs are lactic acid and glycolic acid. This product contains glycolic acid. For some people, lactic acid or malic acid might work better.

This liquid comes packed in a typical Cosrx packaging. They just change the colour of the labels for each product. It has a plastic glass bottle with a plastic pump. The cap is also of the same material. If not tightly closed or carefully cared for, it might tend to leak during travels.

The pump is easy to use, and it dispenses only a minimal amount of the product. The product itself is watery unlike the blackhead liquid which with its thick/oily consistency is meant for blackheads. This whitehead liquid is runny in consistency and it has a very mild pungent smell. The smell was not disturbing for me, but some people out there might find it so.

As recommended by the Cosrx brand, I use this liquid on cotton pads. I use 2 to 3 pumps on the cotton pad, and spread it over my face. It does not sting even the first time. I leave it on for a few minutes, and then followed it up with my usual routine. It is best recommended to use these products at night so that, if you can, follow it up with a sheet mask or a hydrating mask. Even applying aloe vera gel after such power liquids might be useful. I found that this kind of a regimen or method actually enhanced the benefit.

Also, since it is very watery, it will not feel heavy at all. Even if you can use only in the morning, it won’t disrupt your after routine, and makeup! I have used this power liquid once a week, for a month, and afterwards twice a week. Initially, I did not feel any difference other than getting super soft skin. After a month or so, I could see visible benefits. It helped by adding some brightness and by making my skin even toned a bit. It gradually improved my skin with regular usage. This product does what it claims – removes whiteheads and evens out skin tone.

Pros of Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid:

  • Clears skin to a great extent.
  • Helps a lot with dullness and pigmentation.
  • Minimal ingredients. Mild enough for beginners in chemical exfoliation.
  • Did not break me out.
  • Does not feel heavy on the skin.
  • Can be used before usual skin routine. Just needs to be followed by an SPF 30 or greater.
  • Does what it claims after a month – removes whiteheads and evens out skin tone.

Cons of Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid:

  • If you are used to greater concentration of acids on your skin, this might not work.
  • Some will respond better to lactic acid, which is the other AHA.
  • Price! But considering this is a chemical exfoliator and the amount of product, it is definitely an investment for your skin. One bottle will come a long way if you use only twice or thrice in a week.
  • No immediate result. If you want transformation like magic, this will not help.

  1. Its waaaay better then a lot of products available in the Indian market but is not as effective as some of the products available like Paula’s choice. However, you cant beat its price. For that little, its a lot of serum and my first bottle is not over even after 3 months of liberally applying it morning and night!
