Covergirl Continuous Lip Color: Toasted Almond 795 Crème Review and Swatches
My didi like all didis is the one who would shower gifts on me all the time and so sends me kgs of makeup always from Australia. This time on my mom’s recent visit to Australia, she sent back tons of makeup for me for two reasons:
- She knows makeup is my passion.
- I know makeup is not at all her passion 😀
So, I get to have all the nice makeup she can find for me all the year round and sends it across and still I wish she was in the US to get me some personalized lists of mine. Never mind, then there is makeup I buy from Cherry Culture and not to forget the makeup I got from England on my trip :preen:, so I can say makeup is my passion; and rather than hoarding and appreciating nice makeup products is a passion with me. I may or may not wear a lot but surely know how to get the best of the lot in my budget :haanji:
So, this recent acquisition of makeup from Australia I am in love with and mainly some Covergirl lipsticks I had been dying to try after using the fabulous Lashblast mascara I have from Covergirl.
This is one my very first Covergirl lipsticks I got amongst others she sent this time. I am so happy to get crème lipsticks and especially this kind of brick red because brick red in matte has been my favourite lipstick since a long time. I have been drawn to pinky mauves these days which I think flatter and brighten my complexion too.
This toasted almond shade is a crème lipstick (that’s what the pack said) and in one swipe delivers loads of smooth, glossy color for me, which would really look good for someone who can carry lipsticks from the red family. For me, I would like to swipe it more than once to get some red color, but if you were to swipe once, a very pretty mild brick is the color you would get. If deeper, it looks almost red similar to what you can see in my lip swatch.
The lipstick is very pigmented and smooth, I would not say soft and creamy, but it delivers a burst of color on just one application, very impressive! It glides on beautifully for me and turns out to be a very wearable orangey-red.
The staying power is very good, four to five hours and the finish is glossy to moisture in more than one swipe. In one swipe, its just moisture finish. The texture is smooth and moisturising. Now, for me, it really reminds me of the Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lip Color due to the plump effect it gives due to the shiny finish. It does not have any shimmer or glitter, but plain moisture, gloss and crème texture. It does give an effect of plumped-up lips.
When I want to get rid of the glossy finish, I press a single ply tissue and it becomes beautifully matte and orangey-red, superb, but here is the catch, the lipstick stains a lot due to the pigmentation of orange-red in it. It does fade evenly and leaves a pretty stain instead of leaving lips bare after a couples of hours. It is also very moisturising and not drying at all.
Last Word on Covergirl Continous Lip Color: Toasted Almond 795 Crème:
Pretty, gorgeous, orange-red lipstick for brick lovers, gives a plump effect too, very pigmented and moisturising and soft and creamy in texture. It may stain, so watch out for that. I love the color and texture.
