Hope all of you are doing great!! The product I would be reviewing today is “Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm” in the shade “Berry Twist.”

“Twist up the color and glide on the shine. Treat your lips to a balm fortified with shea and mango butters for a smooth look with a hint of color.”

My Take on Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm –  Berry Twist 230:

This was a spur-of-the-moment kind of buy!! I found these really cute and couldn’t resist picking one up. The packaging is pretty and almost the same as the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains, L’Oréal Glossy Balms and Clinique Chubby Sticks. It is a twist up tube, where you have to twist the silver part at the bottom of the crayon to get the product out.

The name of the shade is mentioned only on the plastic seal and not on the actual tube. The tube mentions just the shade number and weight.  The product was sealed and no tester was available when I bought it, but thankfully, the color of the cap and the actual shade of the balm stick match to a great extent.

The good thing about the packaging is that the cap fits tightly, making this a good travel companion. However, the actual color crayon is not as sturdy as it looks. Despite using light pressure while applying the product, it broke a bit. Though the tube is sturdy, I find the crayon a bit flimsy; the kind where the balm stick keeps moving a bit while you try to swipe it on the lips. Annoying!! But the good thing is that it is totally fragrance and flavor free!!

The shade is a really pretty berry pink! The packaging mentions that it is a sheer color and this particular shade is really sheer! It looks like a very light, soft pink with one swipe (very natural); just enhances my natural lip color to some extent. It is not as bright as it looks in the tube, but is pretty buildable. 4 swipes or so give a very beautiful pink tint to the lips. The texture is balmy smooth. On application, it feels really light on the lips and keeps lips smooth and soft. It is not at all sticky or greasy. As the product claims, the shine is subtle and soft and not too glossy. It is great for days when you are out with very subtle makeup (or in fact no makeup) and want that “barely there” look. However, if lips are super dry, it settles in the fine lines and accentuates the flakiness of the skin. So, exfoliation before application becomes an absolute must for those with chapped lips.

The staying power isn’t so great, as it stays on me for around 2 hours (without meals in between).  Since this particular shade appears really sheer on my lips, quite a good amount of product gets used up when I want to build up the color to a brighter one. I am not really sure how sheer/bright the other shades are.

Pros of Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm –  Berry Twist 230:

• Pretty and buildable shade.
• Easy to apply.
• Smooth and balmy texture.
• Keeps lips soft.
• Subtle shine.
• Has absolutely no weird smell or taste.
• Fades evenly.
• Does not bleed, and settle in fine lines (that is if your lips are not super dry).
• Seems to be paraben free.

Cons of Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm –  Berry Twist 230:

• Sheer shade and won’t show up too well on pigmented lips (unless swiped many times).
• Color crayon is a little fragile.
• If lips are chapped, it will settle in fine lines and accentuate flakiness of lips.
• Unavailability in India.

Verdict:

I don’t think this shade is a must have. I probably won’t buy this again as I own quite a few lipsticks that are of similar shade, but I would definitely love to try other shades from this range. The range has some really pretty colors!
