Covergirl Outlast Lipstain 440 Wild Berry Wink review

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain

Lipstains are getting really popular especially in the US. Covergirl was one of the first drugstore brands to launch a lipstain. They have the lipstain available in 10 shades. They cost around $8(Rs 400 approx) and are the standard size of a thick sketch pen. Since I ordered it online while in the US, I got the shade 440 Wild berry wink judging from their swatch.

According to the official website:

The water-based colorants of Outlast Lipstain give lips a beautiful, lightweight flush of color that won’t come off, lasting for hours without the heavy look or feel of an ordinary lipstick. Its pen-like precision applicator makes it easy to define your lips – just draw on color without any hassle!

The lipstain is exactly as it is described. It feels like you are putting a sketch pen on your lips. Feels odd for the first time since as kids we have been told not to put pens on your mouth! The only problem was the color! Why did I order it based on the swatches on the website, maybe its the same reason we do things we know we should not, like watch Bigg Boss when we should be watching more educational KBC? Anyways in short the color was not anything in the pink range but turned out to be bright cherry red! The color goes on your lips as if you drank some red colored rasna or those golas. The color is really long-lasting and sometimes difficult to remove even using make-up remover. But you need to have moisturized your lips and exfoliated them for it to look naturally colored.

To sum it up-

Pros of Covergirl Outlast Lipstain

-Long lasting.
-Does indeed look like a stain.
-A bit drying, needs balm/gloss on the top.
-Size handy for purse, desk.

Cons of Covergirl Outlast Lipstain

-Not true to the color on website or packaging.
-Might dry after sometime like a marker.
-This particular color might not suit everyone.
-Color might bleed on dry lips.

Conclusion

I think the lip stain is actually good, apart from the color I got. Since I rarely wear red, I will be hardly be using this, but if I want really long-lasting color, I will use this as a base for my other darker browns and plums. On the whole I like the concept of lip stain, when used with a balm they are really good and natural looking.
