Hola Amigos,

Today, I have an eyeliner for you all. It is Perfect Point Plus Lasting Self Sharpening Eye Pencil from Covergirl.

Product Description:
This eyeliner pencil gives you control and versatility. Want a precise line? It glides on easily. Want to soften a bit? There’s a soft smudger tip. Best of all? No sharpening necessary. It’s got a specially designed self-sharpener inside. So you always get the point–perfectly.

How To Apply:
Step 1:
Before applying liner, determine your eye shape. If eyes are close-set or round, line only the outer corners. Otherwise, rim the entire upper lid.
Step 2:
Gently pull your eyelid taut at an upward angle. Beginning at the inner corner, draw small, connected dashes along the top lashes. Be sure to stay close to the roots so there is no skin visible between the lashes and the liner.
Step 3:
To make eyes look bigger, extend the liner slightly beyond the outer corners.
Step 4:
Soften the line with a sponge tip or cotton swab by rubbing it slightly up and out at the corners.
Step 5:
Finish the look with powder shadow and two coats of mascara.

My Experience with Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Self Sharpening Eye Pencil – Black Onyx:

I was looking for a black eyeliner, not for lining my lids, but basically for the waterline. Back in India, Maybelline Colossal Kajal was my favorite, but when all my supplies of the same were exhausted, I went looking out for a similar one here. In my quest to find a replacement, I found Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Lasting Self Sharpening Eye Pencil and thought of trying the same.

Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Lasting Self Sharpening Eye Pencil comes in 7 shades, but I specifically wanted a black eyeliner, so I chose “Black Onyx.”

The eyeliner has a simple packaging. It comes in a color-coded pencil, which is black in color. On one end is a sponge tip, to be used as a smudger and on the other end is the eyeliner. Both the ends have a transparent, plastic cap to cover the smudger and eyeliner. The liner has a twist-up mechanism. It does not retract back in the pencil, so one should be careful while taking the product out as it won’t retract back. It is not self sharpening as the claims say.

The eyeliner is true black or I should say the blackest black. When I applied it for the first time, I was super happy to see the pigmentation. A single swipe deposits enough color and the second swipe intensifies. It went on super smooth on my lids and waterline, like knife through butter. Yes, it is buttery smooth. It has never tugged or pulled on the sensitive skin around my eyes, but this smoothness has a downside too and that was the end of my happiness. 🙁

After just an hour later, I could see it smudging. It never sets and smudges badly. It spreads all under my eyes in just above an hour and gives me raccoon eyes. Also, sometimes it feels really uncomfortable on the waterline and at times, it feels just fine.

When I set it with a powder eyeshadow, it stays for very long, but I don’t always set my liner with an eyeshadow. Also, if you have hooded lids, it would smear and transfer easily.

It is water resistant and does not come off when you wash your face. In fact when I used it on my waterline, no matter how much and how diligently I removed my make-up, I always find some residue under my eyes, next morning. 🙁

Pros of Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Self Sharpening Eye Pencil – Black Onyx:

  • Dark black color.
  • Buttery smooth.
  • Goes on without tugging or pulling on lids.
  • Great pigmentation.

Cons of Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Self Sharpening Eye Pencil – Black Onyx:

  • Eyeliner never sets.
  • Smudges and smears like crazy.
  • Have to set with a powder eye shadow, always.
  • Not comfortable on waterline.
  • Difficult to remove.
