Covergirl Professional Loose Powder Review

Covergirl Professional Loose Powder

By Swati Saini

Hello Fellow readers,

I am reviewing Covergirl professional loose powder in Translucent Medium shade.
Product description and claims:

What Brand says about this: This silky-fine loose powder gives you a smooth and beautiful look, and works to help keep foundation looking just right. For a beautiful finish, and a soft, translucent look, this is one powder that’s a real pro.
• Suitable for sensitive skin
• Silky-fine powder formula
• Dermatologically tested

Price and Quantity:

I got it for 8.99$ for amout of product( a little expensive) It is available from 7$ to 8$ at most of the stores.

Packaging:

Product comes in a round box with brown color screw lid with CG for Covergirl written on it. It is a classic loose powder packaging with holes for the product to come out and a white colored puff which can be used to apply the product. Puff is white and cushion-y and feels decent, but it applies too much product in one swipe. So I use fluffy powder brush/Kabuki brush to apply it for more natural look. Puff can be used to blot the T zone on face to minimise the appearance of pores and if you want to reapply in the middle of the day and don’t want to carry separate brush. Overall, packaging is cute and I like it.

My experience with Covergirl Professional Loose Powder

I have normal skin, acne prone and slightly oily in T zone area. I have always used pressed powders in past but this time I got loose powder because I have heard that loose powders give you more natural coverage and doesn’t look ashy and white .

There are 5 shades available:

Translucent Fair,Translucent Light, Tanslucent medium, Translucent honey,Translucent Tawny

I think first 2 shades have pink undertones and last two with yellow undertones for darker skin color beauties. Transluent Medium has neutral undertones and will suit Indians with fair complexion. Olive skinned beauty will do good with Translucent honey.

This powder gives medium coverage to skin and you can use it without foundation if you are in a hurry or if you don’t want to apply foundation everyday. I use a trick with this powder. I apply my moisturiser and sunscreen, then apply this powder with a fluffy brush and then apply foundation over it and then just dab a little bit again. This trick helps me to control oil and sets my make up for a longer time.

I love this powder and totally loving the idea of using loose powder instead of pressed. It gives me natural oil free luminous look throughout the day and even in photographs my face doesn’t look very ashy and white. I just wish I had bought the Translucent Honey shade with yellow undertones, but even Medium works fine. It hasn’t broken me out even once and I have been using it since 1 week. Mind you that I use Lotus matte sunscreen and Ecostay foundation along with this, so these help too in controlling oil. But I definitely see the difference from my previous compacts.

Staying power is decent like for 6-8 hours and I have to reapply may be once a day but only because of very hot and humid weather here. Quantity of the product is good and I think it is going to last me a long time, till the point I get bored with it 🙂
