CoverGirl Queen Eyeshadow Quad Brass n Sass Review

CoverGirl Queen Eyeshadow Quad – Brass n Sass

Hi Everyone,

How’s the day going? I am bored out of my mind…just finished watching all the seasons of Dexter (the second time ;P ) so nothing exciting to watch anymore…for those of you who have not watched Dexter – please please please go and watch it…you will be hooked on to it!

Today my review is about yet another CoverGirl product – the eyeshadow quad from their Queen Collection which is endorsed by Queen Latifah and is meant primarily for dark skin. I found the shades in this range gorgeous. This quad is called Q235 – Brass n Sass (much like Queen Latifah ain’t it? )

Price: 5 USD I think

Product Description: Expertly matched shades work beautifully together or on their own. Silky, sheer formulas are perfect for layering to create a range of looks, from day to night.

Shades: I found all 4 shades to be simply GORGEOUS! I just lightly swiped the blue on my lids the other day when I was going out for dinner, and it looked so smoky and s*xy!

Blue: It’s very similar to the blue shade from Loreal

Brownish Wine: It’s well suited for a smoky eye for the daytime and looks very nice especially for darker skin tones. It’s awesome for crease work as well. I have worn it in the crease with Mac’s Texture and it makes for a nice neutral day look.

Peach: It’s a nice orangey peachy shade that’s very good for regular wear when you just want to even out your eyelids or need a light wash of color.

Highlighter: This is a soft shimmery champagne color.

Texture:
AWESOMMMMMMME pigmentation! That’s the only word that came to my mind – the Blue, Brown, and Peach are super-pigmented and just a swipe is good enough for the colors to show up. They are very soft and creamy and blend very easily. I have not experienced fallout with these.

The highlighter is a different story – although it is pigmented it is very powdery in texture and does not apply evenly, so I stay away from it.

Staying power: That’s where this product let me down – while the Blue and the Brown have good staying power the other two don’t. They start creasing after 3-4 hrs. The blue and the brown stayed on my lids for more than 5hrs at ease, which is good enough for me.

Pros:

  • Gorgeous shades – almost all the shades are usable in this quad
  • Very well pigmented
  • Very compact and travel-friendly packaging
  • Versatile quad and can be used for day as well as night looks. I have used the brown as a liner as well and it looks great!
  • Soft creamy texture and very easy to blend
  • For such a versatile quad, the price is awesome!

Cons:

  • The highlighter is worthless and very powdery in texture
  • Not available in India – online makeup sites are you listening?

Overall verdict:
From the list of cons itself you might have guessed that this is a hit in my books. 🙂
I love the shade selection and the overall quality of these shadows for the price. I regret not picking up more of these . 🙁

Hope you guys like this post. Have a great day everyone 🙂
