CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup Review

Hello Ladies!

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  I spent my weekend with my family tobogganing. It was 5 degrees Celsius last Saturday and the sun is so up and bright and very beautiful, so we went out with our sled to a slope/hill nearby and slid down the snow.  Tobogganing is a fairly new term for me. Just to share, toboggan also means sled and tobogganing means sliding on the snow with the use of a sled.  It’s a super enjoyable activity. Also, last weekend, I went to a 5-minute drugstore makeup shopping and found something I really like – the new CoverGirlTruBlend Liquid MakeUp.  Let me share with you my review for this product and some difference I learned between this and the first TruBlend Liquid foundation released by CoverGirl.

Product Description:

  • 21 shades to perfectly match 99% of women.
  • Perfect Blend Technology covers, yet disappears into skin.
  • Light to medium adaptable coverage.

TruBlend Liquid Makeup is available in 21 shades and features a new shade matching system. To find your perfect blend, first determine your shade family. Second, choose your number. Coordinate complementary truBLEND products based on your number for a seamlessly flawless nude look that blends in and virtually disappears.

My Take on CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup:

Let me say first that I have never used the old TruBlend Liquid Foundation from CoverGirl, so I can’t compare and I can’t tell which is better or if the formulation really improved. The difference between the old and new that I will share in this post were those that I found at the store while I was comparing the two bottles and from product information on CG website.

This new CoverGirlTruBlend Liquid Makeup is packaged in clear glass bottle which is similar to the old packaging except for the color of the pump nozzle, white for the new one, gray or silver on the old. The designs and color of the label on the front is different too. Both the old and the new have 30 ml of product in it. This new CoverGirlTruBlend Makeup comes in 21 shades which is 7 shades more than the old version. I also noticed on the shade matrix for the old TruBlend that most of them were leaning towards pink tones and the new TruBlend seems to have more yellow tones in their collection.

The new CoverGirlTruBlend Liquid Makeup has neutral scent to it which I like. It is creamy, but its more liquidy compared to the CoverGirl Clean Advance Radiance Age Defying Makeup. This TruBlend is easier to blend on the skin and sets faster too compared to Advance Radiance which I reviewed before. It sets amazingly fast, like it turns into powder in seconds. It does give light coverage which can be built up to medium without caking. Though it gives light coverage, it was able to even out my skin tone and minimized the look of my pores. I love that it does not emphasize my dry areas like some powders do and does not settle into fine lines.  While the Advance Radiance one has satin finish, this TruBlend one has a beautiful matte finish that looks very natural on skin. I love this foundation for everyday use!

I used it without any setting powder and after 3 hours, I am happy with the way my skin looks. It looks smoother and healthier compared to when I use the CoverGirl Advance Radiance foundation.  It is still intact and not shiny at all.  When I check after 5 hours, I feel the need to touch up with a face powder because of the shine I see on my T-zone area. I do have a combination skin and for a foundation to last 4 to 5 hours without a setting powder is pretty decent.

Pros of CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup:

  • It has matte finish.
  • Light to medium coverage.
  • Evens out skin tone.
  • Blends well and looks natural on skin. Good for everyday use.
  • Does not settle into fine lines.
  • Hides pores.
  • Does not look cake-y or blotchy.
  • Good on my combination skin.
  • Affordable for $12

Cons of CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup:

  • Staying power could have been better, but setting powder would help this last longer.

Final Thoughts:

This is a good foundation for everyday wear. I totally love it!
