I am going to review one of my first purchases from Crabtree and Evelyn. I have passed the Crabtree and Evelyn store many times, but was never tempted to go inside. The fragrance coming from this store did not attract me as much as L’Occitane. Crabtree and Evelyn in my opinion caters to more mature ladies , something my mum or grandma would wear. However, I only know how wrong I was after trying a couple of products from this brand.
The shop assistants in these stores also generally lack enthusiasm, so I was not tempted initially. What made me venture into this brand was that a few of my colleagues use hand creams from C&A, which smell quite calm and nice. This brand is good for any age group and has many authentic floral-based fragrances such as Rose, Lavender,Wisteria and also “themed fragrances” such as Summerhill, India hicks, etc. C&A also supplies toiletries to the Hilton Hotels group.
I was looking for a body scrub anyway and when I read “floral body smoother,” I was sold. This product contains relaxing lavender oil and rosewood essential oils. Additionally, it also contains shea butter, jojoba seed oil and sweet almond oil.

My Experience with Crabtree and Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Floral Body Smoother:
This body smoother comes in a cute glass jar, which reminds me of spa products. The glass jar has a lift-open lid. The product itself is of light brown colour and has coarse granules which I appreciate in body scrubs. The best part is that you can see bits and pieces of spices in there as well, which look like fennel seeds and smells heavenly of lavender; English lavender to be specific.
Apparently, L’Occitane uses French lavender and that’s why the lavender products from both brands smell different. Only a small portion is enough for each time; however, it should be applied carefully on wet skin as big chunks tend to fall off in the shower. I feel it is a bit harsh for use on dry skin. The big granules do a good scrubbing job and the aromatherapy oils in the scrub moisturise the skin well. So, I guess that is why it is called a “smoother.” I do not need a moisturiser for the whole day as my skin feels hydrated after using this body scrub; however, the next day it is back to normal.
Pros of Crabtree and Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Floral Body Smoother:
- Contains lavender oil, sweet almond oil as well as many other aromatherapy oils to moisturise skin and relax it.
- The granules scrub well to get rid of dead skin during winter.
- This particular line does not contain parabens, laureth sulphate, mineral oils or artificial fragrances, what else do we need ?
- Smells heavenly and good to be used before bed time as lavender calms your senses and helps in de-stressing.
- I love the glass jar packaging.
Cons of Crabtree and Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Floral Body Smoother:
- Quite pricey, but okay for an aromatherapy product.
- I am not sure if this brand is available in India yet.
- The consistency of the smoother makes it easy to fall off during shower time.
- I wish the SA’s in these stores would show more enthusiasm, at least in Australia.
