Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash Review

Hi All,

Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash Review

This review is long pending.  I had been eyeing Crabtree and Evelyn for a long time, but only went in and purchased some products a couple of months ago.  I know Crabtree and Evelyn was a reputable brand from UK in the field of body care, but the shop layout and some of the fragrances didn’t captivate me at the beginning at all. The SAs’ are so boring and indifferent.  The mall that has the Crabtree and Evelyn store, also houses L’Occitane, The Body Shop, Lush, and I used to prefer going into and purchasing the other three brands.  However, recently I have become attracted to Crabtree and Evelyn, especially their shower gels and scrubs.  I have already reviewed the aromatherapy body scrub, so this is my second review and it is the La Source Body Wash from the La Source range.

The Hilton Hotels group provides this body wash and the lotion, shampoo and conditioner at all their hotels worldwide, so I assumed there should be something special with this range. I looked for reviews for this product before buying, but there weren’t many online; however, I purchased the 250 ml body wash and let’s see how I went with this product.

My Experience with Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash:

The product comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a flip-top cap. The bottle is transparent allowing us to see how much is left. The colour is light blue when inside the bottle, in line with the theme for “The La Source Line,” which is ocean-inspired and hence light blue in colour. However, when the shower gel is taken into the hands, it is almost colourless. The shower gel lathers well into a rich foamy body cleanser. This product can also be used in the bath and lathers well in the bath as well.

The scent is a clean ocean fresh scent which will remind you of the best beach holiday you have had.  This isn’t either a floral or fruity scent, but it gives me a refreshing break from all the floral and fruity body washes I use all the time. This fragrance is similar to “L’Occitane Calanques” range because of the colour and the fragrance.

Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash

The fragrance is unisex, so it can be used by men, women and children alike.  No wonder Hilton Hotels provide them as all guests can use this shower gel. The consistency of this product is gel like and I was surprised that it didn’t dry my skin out at all. It was pleasant on my skin and didn’t dry it at all; however, it wasn’t extremely moisturising either.

Pros of Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash:

  • Does not dry out skin.
  • Pleasant unisex fragrance, good for travel, can be used by everyone in the family.
  • “La Source” range is one of the most prestigious ranges from Crabtree and Evelyn (might be the hype of Hilton Hotels group).
  • “La Source” range has body lotions, hand recovery (hand scrub), hand therapy (hand cream), foot soaks, and a range of spa accessories such as bath robes, eye masks and headbands.
  • Contains sea algae extracts, milk proteins and spirulina extracts which are beneficial to the skin.
  • Price is reasonable when compared L’Occitane.

Cons of Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash:

  • This fragrance is not for everyone, it isn’t floral or fruity or anything we are used to.  It has a clean, ocean fresh fragrance.
  • Full list of ingredients are not mentioned in the bottle nor on the website.  Since it has a 36 months shelf life, I suspect this product is loaded with chemicals.

IMBB Rating:

3.75/5

This product is a good change from any of my other body washes and my husband shares this with me since it is a unisex product.  He likes the subtle ocean fresh fragrance; however, I am not overly impressed with this shower gel from Crabtree and Evelyn.  Does it live up to the hype ? No; however, I have tried other products from the “La Source” range and I am liking them, so the whole “La Source” range is not a let-down, only this product in my opinion is nothing special for AUD 28.

Will I Repurchase Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Wash?

No, but I would like to try other body washes from Crabtree and Evelyn.
