This is my very first oud fragrance; for the uninitiated, oud is one of the most expensive perfume ingredients ever. Oud is obtained from a tree wood which is infected by a certain kind of mould variety. Oud perfumes are not for everyone. One has to acquire a taste for them. This fragrance was released in 2015. My husband gifted me this plus one more perfume from Creed a few months ago. If I had to pick it up myself, I would not have dared to splurge this much money. I have learned to like it and feel comfortable wearing it since it’s been gifted to me by my husband.
Price: $420 for 75 ml
Olivier Creed brings to life the early 20th century fashion sketchbooks of his ancestor, Henry Creed II. Inspired by a time when the House of Creed was steeped in London’s fine tailoring, Royal Princess Oud becomes the first scent born from over a century of couturier history. This fragrance features the signature note of Oud, a historical ingredient expensive and rare, perfectly fitting for a captivating fragrance. From high tea to grand balls, this seductive scent is like a modern day little red dress. Royal Princess Oud is perfect for the woman with a passion for life.
My Experience with Creed Royal Princess Oud Perfume:
Creed Royal Princess Oud comes packaged in a transparent reddish pink colored bottle with metallic gold engravings in a few places. The perfume bottle is a little curved, which makes it look even more elegant. The cap closes tightly, so it is very secure.
The red and gold combination makes the perfume bottle feminine. The outer packaging is also very good. It comes in a cardboard box and with a leaflet with all details. The fragrance itself opens with a medicinal fragrance. I believe it comes from the oud. Soon after one can smell the lovely floral fragrance around it.
This oud perfume does not smell like or have a hint of Arabic vibe to it, which I prefer. The top notes are of Sicilian bergamot, rose and sweet violet. The middle notes are of jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, and iris from Tuscany fragrances. The base notes are benzoin siam (a sweet gum resin from Thailand), Mysore sandalwood and Styrax (an ancient resin extracted from the bark of shrubs in Asia).
I would not wear this perfume to work as I feel people around might find it overwhelming. I have used it only outdoors during weekends. The fragrance has good longevity. It lasts more than 10 hours on me. The sillage is also good.
One more thing I noticed about this fragrance is that it does not change over time. By this I mean it smells the same when applied and also at the end of the day. Overall, it’s a very luxurious product which is quite expensive but it is not for everyone since it’s an oud fragrance.
Pros of Creed Royal Princess Oud Perfume:
• Very long-lasting.
• Classy fragrance.
• Gorgeous packaging.
Cons of Creed Royal Princess Oud Perfume:
• Very expensive.
• Not for everyday use.
• Only for oud lovers.
IMBB Rating: 3/5
