Creme De La Mer :

At some point in time I knew I had to try this super hyped moisturizing cream. I have read the most amazing reviews of this product. I, very reluctantly, bought this in Paris.:D  Celebrities such as J Lo swear by this. I mean who does not want that J Lo glow? 😛

It is a VERYYYY thick moisturising cream. It’s thick to an extent that you can’t just rub it on to your skin. You basically have to rub it between your finger tips until it gets translucent and literally press it on to your skin – first cheeks, then chin, then forehead and neck. Have you ever used that blue Nivea cream that comes in a tin? That’s the kind of thick consistency I am talking about. This cream is meant for dry to very dry skin. It sounded perfect for me.

I have been using it for more than a month now. You need a teeny bit of it so a little goes a long way. It is verrry moisturising when you put it on. And for someone with dry skin you instantly feel the relaxed and very comfortable. I find it very good to apply before applying makeup since it adds a bit of a glow to the skin and makes skin look smoother.

It comes in a lovely glass jar with a spatula. Although I have to agree that the jar is a bit bulky and not very ideal to travel with.

There is a lovely soothing fragrance to the cream.

The first ingredient of this cream is seaweed extract. It can help in soothing the skin inflammation, adding a boost of moisture and is rich in vitamins. It can help a lot in combating rosacea.

The second ingredient is mineral oil, which is a bi-product of petroleum. It is one of the most inexpensive form of product that is heavily used in cosmetics, especially cold creams. It is a very controversial product. Some research suggest that if a refined form of mineral oil is used it is completely safe to use in skin care. A lot of time mineral oil causes break outs on people. Fortunately, I was totally okay with using this cream.

This cream also includes some ordinary home care ingredients such as glycerin and petrolatum.

Makes me really wonder about the high price tag.

There are some very good oils also included in this cream such as eucalyptus and sesame seed oil.

All said and done.. this did not work too well for me.

  • First, you cannot use it in a hurry. You HAVE to use a press and apply process.
  • I noticed a few dry patches on my skin oflate. It’s been a looong time I have had dry patches on my skin. And to top it all I am using a cream that is the GOD of moisturisers..and that too for dry skin. Totally not acceptable.
  • I have definitley seen my skin in much better condition and form when I use other products. This did not cut through. My skin looks just the fact a less radiant. Hence, the reason for my recent skin cream purchase.
  • The claims mentioned.. well nothing of the sorts worked for me.

Overall, didn’t work for me. I would have really accepted the price as well since I always believe that every brand is free to price their products the way they want. They are the best judgement of their own products. But this one seriously did not justified the price. It gives an instant hydration and works fine for day time. My skin does not look an iota better in morning when I use it at night. It looks a bit lifeless…unfortunately.
