Curling Rod vs. Curling Iron

Curling Rods vs. Curling Iron

Both curling rods and irons are available in a variety of options including titanium and tourmaline. Ladies with straight hair always fancy curls, and never underestimate the power of a hot tool, but choose wisely, see if a wand or rod works best for you or a regular curling iron..take a look.

Before you choose one, think what is the output you need from a curling tool…do you have curls which you want to intensify, do you have waves that you want to fix,or you have straight hair and want a head full of tight curls?Curling wands  or rods do not have a clip like a traditional curling iron .You need to wrap your hair section around the rod and hold  it for  the curl since it does not have a clamp. Some curling wands will come with a glove to help protect your fingers. 10 seconds is a good time to hold it.If your wand or rod is tapered, the curl will be smaller at the bottom, for even rods the curls will be looser. For tapered ones, for thicker curls, use the thick base end. For tighter, smaller curls use the thinner/pointed end.

If you have medium to longer curls or waves, you can easily use a curling rod. start with dry hair and wrap it around the rod/barrel. The ends of your hair will wrap around last so there is less damage and fewer split ends with the rod.

If you have thinner hair, there are no marks left on the hair when you use a rod, if you need volume, the rods are better to get at the base of the hair. The rods are far easier and faster to use some users say, you can get top quality ones now in the market, and is great for beginners,it heats up quicker too.On the contrary not having a clasp will make is tougher for some too.

With a rod, your curls will not fall faster, they will hold better so if you think your hair texture does not hold the curls,  use a rod. Th tapered wand gives a beachy wave look.

On the other hand curling irons are great for beginners. The clamp that these come with help for better grip and better curl and lesser arm pain 😛 Rods heat easily and give good results. The irons gives you more natural looking curls. You can even try double barrel and clip less irons these days.

A curling iron comes with a clasp. To curl your hair, you place the ends of your hair in the clasp and then wind the curling wand up so that your hair wraps around it. This way it is easier as the iron holds the hair in the clasp, and you need to hold the iron handle, it might take longer but gives good result too. The curling rod is even and uniform mostly instead of conical, but you can choose the size as well according the the curls you wish.

If you need faster and smoother results, go for a rod.You will still get a variety in the size of the curl in a conical rod.If you are a pro an are good with working with rods without the need of a clasp to hold the hair then go for a rod.

If you like variety and need various sized irons, these days you can get rods that are interchangeable at the base for varied curls according the mood and occasion. Irons are also good if you  are looking for lesser arm pain, since the clasp is handy.

If you use them properly and try it often, rod  or iron, anyone would give you the desired curls you crave for.
