How To Customize Hair Clips – Do It Yourself
Hey All,
“Necessity is the mother of invention.” Someone said it so right. It is the necessity that makes a person to push the boundaries, foray into unknown areas and step on to unseen land. Before I moved to Andamans, I had never imagined even in my wildest dreams that I could even clip two things together. I was more of a crazy, free-will girl who could just laugh endlessly, but I came to Andamans and got posted to a remote place where getting daily-need things is also an ordeal. To add to the woes, online retailers do not deliver to my place. So, I am left with one choice – try it myself. This choice has helped me in tapping a small, hidden resource of my brain – imagination! Today’s creation is one such attempt at imagining things. Have a look at the hair pins below. I customized them after I tried very hard to get some hair accessories, but could not find any.
Here is the real story behind the pins. I went to a friend’s place last week and her pet bit my slipper. This pair was very dear to me and I somehow could not dare to throw it away. I kept them with me thinking maybe there is some way to use these again. Then, finally the rhinestone string on the slipper caught my eye and I tore off the slippers 😀
I got hold of two plain black hair pins and decided to paste the rhinestones on the clips.
Here is how I did it:
1. Take a pair of plain hair pins.
2. Find some stones, beads, rhinestones or anything that you want to attach to the pin.
3. I used the rhinestone string and cut it according to the length of the pins.
4. Glue the strings to the pins using Feviquick.
5. Let it dry.
Done!
You just need to take care while gluing Feviquick is quite sticky in nature and can actually stick anything, even the fingers! Also, take care that you glue the stones carefully in a line neatly.
Tips: If you do not have stones, look for them on used tops, kurtas or laces. If you don’t want these milistones, you can also glue small flowers or a single big stone. I hope you enjoyed this post and I would love to hear from you in comments.
