Day & Night Cream for Troublesome Skin: Ask IMBB

I have a very troublesome skin; it becomes excessively dry in winter and oily in sultry weather. I recently used neutrogena sun block which made my skin more prone to break outs. The other product I used last year was lotus sun safe absolute anti tan gel which caused mere discoloration and dark patches on my skin. I will be very thankful to you if you kindly suggest a proper day cream and night cream for my skin type.

  1. try olay natural white healthy fairness day cream light….its an awesome cream πŸ™‚ for winter and summer both…only quantity matters πŸ˜€

  2. Even i have similar type of skin…oily in summer n somewhat dry in winter..pond’s age miracle range have worked for me..their night cream is too good

  3. and seems you are allergic to some ingredient in both the creams you tried..so i would suggest you visit a dermatologist and probably try to figure out wat went wrong and wat will work for you..

      1. see rads wat i meant is in sunscreen itself there would be one specific ingredient which could be causing the allergy..in fact my derm says she will never recommend any sunscreen found in open market now for senstive skin.am using suncote gel as told by her..quite bored of it too but dont have the guts to change!!

        1. Oh totally agree with it…me using Clinique and don’t know what I will do when that gets over….and I use sunscreen only when I am outdoors. I stay at home whole day..by stay at home, I mean am nowhere even near a window..so I think I am pretty okay without a sunscreen/block.

          1. Am like that too Shyna…even if I am superbored I would be too scared to change something that works for me

          2. in fact am also indoors from 9 till 6..but doc says even 15 min out in the sun causes damage…well i apply sunscreen in the morning since i would be out for sometime till i reach office..but i never re-apply unless i go out in between…u work from home?

  4. apply lacto calamine during night…it repairs the skin cells and reduces pores too…it has worked wonders for my skin…me too have similar type of skin …. for morning am using lakme perfect radiance lotion ..one that comes in pump and till now no break outs…

  5. Hi Anwesha,

As u have mentioned your skin changes according to whether, change the skin care also according to that, keep one range for winter and another for rainy and summer.
For summer you can use any non-greasy lotion with spf (15-30).
For winters cream based with spf (15-30).
In summer u can go for alcohol based toner, and in winter a mild one with out alcohol.
Even change the face wash accordingly.

  6. u have a sensitive skin!do not use anything until u get it checked!
please that would agravtee your skin condition.
try to look for minimum ingridents and herbal products. :victory2: :victory2:
i have a history of family alrgys nd try to stick to homemade packs and stuff.
also lactocalamine should work for u.coz its is jus liquified clay.it fills the pores and controls oil but apart from that before tryng any brand be it high end or drugstore consult a derma!
    :plane:

    1. Flygirl that such fabulous advice.A dermatologist will be best to help out for sensitive skin issues

currently my skin is ok and can handle retail products but i too went thru a very sensitive skin phase.i used lacto calamine in that phase,it was good,The lacto calamne with aloe evra ,nfact any pdt with aloe vera doesnt tend to harm skin,so one can try

  7. I ahve similar skin-very oily in summers & mildly dry in winters. In winters I’ve been using Garnier daily moisteriser which worked well. Now I am planning to change to Lacto Calamine. I’ve heard that lacto calamine also gives sun protection. The latest post about clean & clear balancing moisteriser are sounds good.
For night I have started using Patanjali Aloe gel which is hydrating & soothing.

  8. I too think you should see a dermatologist first before buying day/night cream/lotion from market….and since most of us avoid sun and use heavy sunblocks, people do tell me if you take some Vit. D supplement…
