Dear Packer Black Ginseng Gold Hydrogel Mask Review

Skin type: Normal to oily, acne-prone and sensitive

Greetings everyone,

I have never tried any hydrogel mask before this. The only reason I bought this hydrogel mask is the list of potent skincare ingredients mentioned on it. It has niacinamide, ginseng root extracts, 24K gold, camellia extracts, sandalwood oil, cedarwood oil, lime oil, rosemary oil, coriander oil and what not. The list, completely filled with so many wonderful ingredients, ultimately lured me into buying this mask. So, let’s get into the details whether it was worth the price or not.

My experience with Dear Packer Black Ginseng Gold Hydrogel Mask:

Packaging:
The packaging of masks from Dear Packer is indeed attractive. It lured me into looking at this hydrogel mask. And I ended up buying it. This hydrogel mask comes in a black coloured thick foiled sachet with some ingredients and buildings printed over it beautifully. Moreover, these masks do not have the regular rectangular packaging. The sachet houses all the information regarding the hydrogel mask. Overall, the packaging is super travel-friendly and easy to use once you figure out how.

Texture and fragrance:
The hydrogel mask completely feels like a jelly, having one side smooth while the other meshed. Although it is jelly-like, it is not at all sticky. While putting on, I was afraid that it might tear up at any moment, but it didn’t. There were gold flakes all over the mask. The mask has a white plastic sheet on one side and a transparent on the other side. Yes, the hydrogel mask was sandwiched in between the plastic sheets.

There was a little essence in the packet and the mask wasn’t drenched in the essence. In fact, there was no trace of essence over the hydrogel mask. The fragrance is not that much strong, but you would definitely notice it. It somewhat resembles ginseng and a blend of oils, I think. However, as soon as I put the sheet mask over the face, there was no fragrance to be found.

Usage:
I have never put on a hydrogel mask or a mask cut in halves before. Thus, I had a little hard time in figuring out where to begin and how to put this mask on. As I mentioned, one side of the mask is smooth and the other is mesh. So, I figured to put the mask in such way that the smooth side must touch my skin. I peeled the plastic sheet off smooth side and placed it over my face. Then I started peeling off another plastic sheet, slowly sticking the mask over the skin. In the end, the mask easily stuck over the skin and didn’t budge until I peeled it off.
When the mask was on my face, I was actually lying on my stomach and reading a book. So, you can imagine that it was way more comfortable than the other cotton sheet masks.

When talking about the fitting, it is quite difficult to fit a mask when it is cut in halves. However, once you have figured out the application process, it is easy to use. The cut for nose area was way too big and exposed the skin around the nose. Moreover, there was an M-shaped or heart-shaped cut on the chin area, and I couldn’t figure out why. Maybe the cut was to make the mask fit properly. In the end, the mask was smoothened and there were no lines or bubbles trapped.
Though I had planned to peel off the mask after 30 minutes, I got engrossed in the book and forgot the time. So, I removed it after an hour.

Result:
When the mask was on the face, it was providing a cooling effect to the skin. It freshened up the tired skin with the coolness. As the time passed, I felt the hydrogel mask getting thinner and less soft. I guess my skin was actively absorbing the ingredients from the mask. Moreover, when the mask was on I felt the skin around my mouth and jawline tightening.

To my surprise, there was no essence left over on my face after removing the mask. The essence was already absorbed by the skin, which I liked the most about this mask. There was no need to pat on the skin to let the skin absorb the excess essence. It made my skin hydrated, moisturized and nourished. There was brightening effect as well, but not much.

Dear Packer Black Ginseng Gold Hydrogel Mask-the mask

The most noticable was the refined skin. I couldn’t believe that a single use of this mask refined the skin and reduced the visibility of pores (I have few open pores around the nose), making them almost invisible. There were no dry (I am currently having dry patches over the cheeks because of seasonal changes) or rough patches on the skin. Though I use facial oil to spot treat them, this mask did an excellent job in moisturizing and nourishing the dry patches. I didn’t feel any need to spot treat them for the next day as well.

The skin was perfectly plump with a healthier look. I was completely awed by the results of this hydrogel mask.It didn’t make the skin greasy or sticky. There was no need to wash off the face as there was no trace of essence over the skin. Though the temptation of not washing my face was great, however, after 15 minutes, I washed off with normal water. I had to attend my best friend’s wedding rituals the next week. Thus, I am steering clear of anything that could possibly cause my acne-prone skin to breakout. However, it didn’t cause any breakout or irritation to the skin. You can carry on with your regular skin care routine to makeup application. It makes the skin so smooth that the foundation can glide easily over it without a makeup primer.

Overall, black ginseng gold hydrogel mask from Dear Packer lived up to its claims. My love for Dear Packer is increasing more and more with each passing day. In the instructions, it was mentioned to use this mask 2-3 times a week for best result. I think to indulge in a mask worth INR 400 per use, twice or thrice times a week can burn a hole in your pocket. Other than this, it is a wonderful and perfect to pamper your skin.
