Deborah Milano Color Correcting Face Primer Review

Deborah Milano Color Correcting Face Primer Review

Hello! How are we doing?

I have combination skin that’s dry after I wash my face, but oily a couple of hours later. While getting ready every morning, I have to get everything done in a rush including makeup, but putting foundation on rough dry skin only results in a patchy base which is the last thing we want, so I put on moisturizer to lose the dryness, but we all know what happens after about 2 hours. Getting a primer had been on my mind for the longest time and on one of my visits to NewU, the SA really insisted I try two primers. It was either Shiseido’s Za or Deborah Milano and I picked the latter. I obviously wasn’t paying attention because I got a Color Correcting primer instead of a mattifying one. So, did this primer do me any good or was it an impulse buy? Read on to find out:

My Experience with Deborah Milano Color Correcting Face Primer:

The primer is just right in consistency, not too thick and not runny.  It’s a beautiful lavender color and the texture is smooth without feeling silicone-y.  A lavender color corrector is supposed to normalize yellow-colored imperfection such as sallow complexions and yellow bruises. It can also help conceal very dark under-eye circles and dark spots on bronze skin tones. Now, I have a little pigmentation on my cheeks and above the lips and ideally this corrector should have evened out my skin tone in that area, and it did. Putting a medium to full coverage foundation will do the trick too, but I only wear a light coverage foundation everyday, so this product is perfect for me.

It contains micro shimmer to lend a light glow to the face. After my morning shower, I apply moisturizer and apply this to my face and it instantly lightens the appearance of the pigmentation on my face and fills in the pores but the pores start to show in an hour or two. The primer sinks into the skin in no time and mattifies the skin (only for about 30 minutes to an hour).

It creates a flat, even-toned canvas for me to work on and I love the product for this. I don’t have yellow colored imperfection on my face, so I can’t really judge that element, but as far as the color correcting is concerned, I’m impressed. It doesn’t claim to keep skin from getting oily, so I can’t complain since my face got oily just about an hour later. It does claim to help increase the longevity of the foundation and it does to an extent which is a surprise since it doesn’t control oil. You have to be careful with the quantity that you apply because a little too much and it’ll give your face that unpleasant whitish cast.

Pros of Deborah Milano Color Correcting Face Primer:

  • Helps lighten pigmentation on the face.
  • Has a pleasant floral smell.
  • Just the right consistency and gets absorbed in no time.
  • Evens skin tone and fills in pores.
  • Extremely light, doesn’t feel heavy on the face.
  • Contains micro shimmer to lend a glow.
  • Didn’t break me out.

Cons of Deborah Milano Color Correcting Face Primer:

  • Pricey.
  • Doesn’t prevent skin from getting oily.
  • May make the skin look whitish if you over apply it.

Final Word:

Yes, it was an impulse buy, but it wasn’t a complete disappointment. It does help correct pigmentation and creates an even base for foundation, but it doesn’t help with oiliness whatsoever. The foundation lasts close to an hour longer for me with this primer on and that’s pretty average for a product this expensive. To sum it up, buy it if you have normal to dry skin and you need color correction with pigmentation but for the rest, any other primer is as good. To me this product is so-so.  I will suggest ladies with oily skin to stay away from this product.
