Deepika Padukone Inspired Makeup Tutorial

By “Makeup Artist Suman Agarwal

Hello, girls!
So this is my first makeup tutorial for IMBB and I feel honored to be a small part of this huge blog. Here is a short tutorial that was done on my dear friend, Ankita. She always reminds me of Deepika Padukone, so tried Deepika’s popular looks on her for you all. Hope you all will like it and try to recreate it.

The no makeup face:

step 1

Step 1 –

I prepped and primed her skin using Lotus Herbals moisturizer and Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer.
step 2

Step 2 –

I usually start my makeup with eyes as that makes the work cleaner and easier. Using my Mac 217 Brush and MAC Folie Eyeshadow, I created a crease just below her brow bone (the hollow part of the eyes). MAC Folie is a great color for creating a crease and for contours (an artist’s tip). Using the same Folie shade, I created a ‘V’ shape on the edges of her eyes. This creates eye contours.

Step 3 –

Then I used MAC All That Glitters Eyeshadow on the center part of the eyes. Drew an eyeliner with a slight wing using Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black (one of my favorites). I then used Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, but you girls can choose to go with Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara as that one is a great mascara too. I, then, filled her eyebrows using the L’Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Prep and Shape Pro Kit.
step 3

Step 4 –

I used L’Oreal Infallible 24H Stay Fresh Foundation on her face, which goes on evenly while covering all the blemishes. I used this foundation instead of a professional one so that you girls can also recreate this look. Trust me, this is a great foundation and works as good as the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation.
step 4

Step 5 –

For blush, I used one of my favorites called Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush – Tipsy. It gives a natural flush of color and goes well with most of the skin tones. Since she has a round face, I did a subtle contouring using the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in the shade Deep 4. This one product is great for contouring and bronzing.
step 10

Contouring was done under her cheeks, on her temples, nose, and jawline. I controlled the intensity of the contouring as I wanted this to be an everyday look. If you don’t own this product, then use a foundation that is 2 to 3 shades darker than your natural skin tone for contouring. To highlight the cheekbones, I used the MAC All That Glitters again (you can always experiment and multi use a product).

Step 6 –

Finally, I finished her look using a combination of two red lipsticks MAC Russian Red Lipstick & L’Oreal Color Riche Pure Reds Star Collection Pure Amaranthe Lipstick . You see, the color that has emerged is beautiful. I just loved it; in fact, Ankita had never worn a red color before this makeover and she was in love with it too. She didn’t require much of powdering on her face as she has a dry to normal skin.
step 5

So, the final look is here. I tried to create a low bun similar to what Deepika Padukone dons with a slight teasing on the front side of the head and applied a round bindi too. This look can be worn for a day look for a formal event or a party. So girls, I am sure those who have been skeptical of wearing red during the day can now try this look on themselves. Trust me, post this makeover, Ankita has been trying to wear a soft red color on her lips.
step 6

How to Take This Look from Day to Night

To bring a change to the look and make it look bolder, I used Colorbar Kohl Pencil on her water line and the lash line as well, with that I added MAC Folie on the lid to give a smoky effect. Remember one thing, eye makeup is all about blending and blending. Now you see the transformation. This look is apt for night parties and for outings.
step 9

If you are wearing a black outfit you will surely make heads turn with this look. You can also choose to go nude on the lips with bold eyes for a softer look.
step 7
