I am going to pen down a no-nonsense review about this no-nonsense lotion which had immensely helped my oily, acne-prone facial skin. It is now my favourite moisturizer for those unfortunate days when you wake up with an idiotic grin on your face, all-ready-to-glam up, but there’s this stubborn little zitty blemish sitting on your way. If you don’t want to aggravate it further, I would suggest you go for Dermocalm.

You cannot apply your regular acne-busting cream with benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid to kill the villainous bacteria in daytime cause you are not supposed to be exposed to sunlight wearing BP at least.

Dermocalm

Okay about the “physician’s sample, not to be sold tag – I am not associated with any company; my dad being a pediatrician has recommended that I use this lotion to tackle my blemishes and he gets these free samples, not me. I am not advertising the product on behalf of any company (yeah as if you couldn’t tell that from the pictures :P).

So, here comes the knight in shining armour to rescue you from your plight in the most un-rajnikanth–est way, more like the down-to-action-and-actually-doing-some-work FBI 😀

Calamines are basically Zinc Carbonates in a chosen base. They are known for improving the skin tone and texture in terms of visage clarity and definitely works to fade blemish marks, mild acne scarring in the long term with repeated usage.

GlaxoSmithKline is a giant reputed medicine manufacturer, not an unknown oppressed mini brand in the market. So, why would it keep parabens in its ingredients – even Pythagorus would’ve taken days to figure out the answer to that complicated question.  Nevertheless, it works better than the calamines present in the market (not that oily or that pink) and is definitely light on skin due to having a light paraffin base.

Directions For Use:

Apply gently on the affected area of the skin by gently massaging until it vanishes.  To be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 degree celcius. Not to be frozen.  This is for topical use on skin only.

My Experience with Dermocalm Lotion by GlaxoSmithKline:

It superbly moisturizes my facial skin before I put on say a powder or a liquid foundation.  Otherwise, being a person with a skin which secretes enough oil to make an arab merchant proud, I tended to skip moisturizer earlier before application of makeup and nevertheless it turned out chalky on my visage.

Since our facial tissues are thinner, I cannot obviously use something as heavy as a body butter on my face plus this Dermocalm moisturizer has also improved my skin with repeated use, lightened the blemishes on my skin and helped it glow, yeah you saw right, GLOW not SHINE like a silicone-sprayed newly-greased merry-go-round in the nearby children`s park.

So, I think this moisturizer, being from a reputed company and also pocket-friendly can easily solve most of the problems faced by the oily beauties.

Pros of Dermocalm Lotion by GlaxoSmithKline:

  • Works well for oily-skinned ladies and definitely adolescents stricken with the no-moisturiser-and-chalky-makeup-blemishes calamity.
  • Works individually as a night lotion to improve skin clarity.
  • Doesn’t turn face overtly pink like some of the commercially-available calamines.
  • Is in a light paraffin base, doesn’t grease up the face at all, instead controls excess oil secretion.
  • Is from a reputed company.
  • Soothes dry, itchy skin too.

Cons of Dermocalm Lotion by GlaxoSmithKline:

Contains parabens as preservatives (why oh God why? *how the hell do I know? Answers Lord Almighty), go ask Glaxosmithkline instead *sighs *  I own about 3-4 packs of these currently and will be using this for quite sometime as commercially-available calamines didn’t suit me much, it used to oil up on me after a while, but Dermocalm works like a dream moisturizer on my skin.

  3. you can look for it at any medicine/pharmacological store – they should keep it.
Yes,its similar to calamine but this one`s usually recommended by dermatologists -The commercially available one didnt work for me ..and this is less harsh on skin than other acne-busting creams plus acts as a moisturiser which doesnt serve up a acne minefield on my face 😛

  13. The one you were talking about poo, has two variants – the green aloe one for dry skin and the purple one for oily skin – so shouldnt you have tried the green one instead? 😛 just a suggestion .yes lacto calamine do help – its zinc oxide / carbonate after all – are used in Sunscreens and sunblocks for the prevention of sunburn due to its ability to absorb ultraviolet light, also antiseptic properties that help prevent infection from scratching, soothes sunburn. its medically recommended too .

    1. hehe..   ..
Actually i have used both but liked the purple one more as it provide better finish and I can apply suncreen or anything without worrying about facial skin (getting oily or shiny) for long.. :yahoo: :yahoo:
