We all know it’s important to keep our hair from getting damaged when using curling irons and other hot appliances on the hair. There are a lot of heat protectant products out there, but finding one that also has a handful of other benefits can be difficult. I have really been drawn to trying out this product because it’s paraben free as well as 100% vegan. It’s also cruelty free, which is definitely a plus point for me.

My Experience with Desert Essence Coconut Hair Defrizzer and Heat Protector:
I usually don’t flat iron or curl my hair, but I do tend to blow dry my hair if I’m in a rush and that’s when I tend to use this product. I’ll spray this into my damp hair and brush it through with my hands as evenly as possible before blow-drying it.
I don’t think it keeps the frizz as contained as other products that I’ve tried, but I can assure you that it nourishes your brittle ends and brings them back to life! It also smells like coconut, which I personally love (it’s like smelling the beach everywhere you go).
My hair is relatively dry and frizzy, but my roots tend to get oily and so I don’t apply this near my roots. I like to apply this along with my Matrix Smoothing Serum at the tips of my hair. It’s also packed with vitamins and other natural oils that will really help repair your damaged ends. I think this would be better off at nourishing your hair than containing the frizz. The frizz does go down a little bit after applying this product but not too much which leaves me a little unsatisfied.
Pros of Desert Essence Coconut Hair Defrizzer and Heat Protector:
- Smells lovely but not too overpowering, and it lasts all day.
- Nourishes your hair and heals brittle ends.
- Gives hair a lustrous shine.
- Protects from heat damage.
Cons of Desert Essence Coconut Hair Defrizzer and Heat Protector:
- Doesn’t de-frizz my hair much.
- The bottle is a little big which makes it difficult to carry around on a hot day.
Would I Recommend Desert Essence Coconut Hair Defrizzer and Heat Protector?
If your hair is mildly frizzy or you just want a heat protectant, I think this would be great! But if you’re suffering from awful frizziness from humidity, I don’t think this will help by that much. And I don’t think I can get over how wonderful this smells.
Would I Repurchase Desert Essence Coconut Hair Defrizzer and Heat Protector?
Probably not to use as an anti-frizz product but for nourishing my hair like a serum, it’s great.
