Hello all,

After reviewing the Dessange Paris Purifying Clay mask, I am back with the review of the shampoo from this range. Read on to find out how the shampoo fared.

Product Description:
The second step in the Purifying Clay system, the pro-vitamin b5 enhanced balancing shampoo, helps to minimize oily roots while moisturizing ends, producing balanced hair from root to tip. The pro-vitamin b5 is known for its protective properties of the fiber capillary, helping repair and soften the hair. Hair and scalp become re-balanced, with the added benefit of a light cherry, violet, and vanilla scent.

Suggested Use: After using the pre-shampoo mask, rinse hair with the balancing shampoo to help balance hair.

My Experience with Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo:

To begin with, a little about my hair type. I have naturally thick and wavy hair.  I have an oily scalp; my hair is not overtly oily, but it tends to get oilier after 4 -5 days of shampooing.  The ends of my hair are much more dry compared to the rest of the hair and have a dull and lifeless look. The “Purifying Clay” range from Dessange Paris claims to address exactly this issue – oily root and dry ends. And that is what attracted me to this hair care range.

Packaging:  The shampoo comes in a simple, fuss-free, mint-colored plastic packaging. The bottle has a flip-top cap which shuts tight. The bottle is sleek and looks attractive, but this size is not exactly travel friendly. It does not come in smaller travel-sized versions.

Fragrance: The shampoo has a pleasant fruity fragrance which I personally liked. The smell does not stay in your hair for long and fades away 2-3 hours after shampooing.

The shampoo is mint in color and is of the consistency of a creamy lotion. It is easy to apply and spreads quickly through the hair. It also lathers up well. I have been using this shampoo in conjunction with the mask from the same range. I rinse away the mask and then massage the shampoo onto my wet hair. I keep it for about 5 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.

The verdict:  The shampoo cleans my hair pretty well and removes all grease. My scalp feels super clean too, but the best part is that it does not strip essential moisture from my hair and my hair feels quite hydrated afterwards. I did not notice any aggravated hair fall after using this shampoo neither did I notice any extra oiliness between washes. It surely gives me clean, healthy and lustrous hair.

The only minor con that I notice is that my hair feels a bit tangled after using the shampoo, but this is a problem which can be easily taken care of with a conditioner. I have been following up with a leave-in conditioner.

Pros of Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo:

  • Cleans the scalp thoroughly and removes all grease.
  • Does not dry out the hair ends or make the hair frizzy.
  • Hair looks clean, healthy and hydrated.
  • Pleasant fruity fragrance.
  • Fuss-free sturdy packaging.

Cons of Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo:

  • Shampoo on its own will leave you with tangled hair. You need to use a conditioner as well.
  • Slightly expensive compared to drugstore brands.

IMBB Rating:
4/5

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo?
I would surely recommend this shampoo to all who have an oily scalp but slightly dry hair.  I would definitely repurchase this shampoo when I am finished with the current bottle.

  1. Seems like a nice shampoo as it doesn’t dry out hair post wash. We all anyway use a conditioner each time, so this con doesn’t really matter. So well reviewed. 🙂
