A lot of you keep requesting for a cream contouring tutorial. So here is a full on cream contouring and highlighting for y’ll. It is a general tutorial that would pretty much work on everyone. But every face shape is different. By rule – you highlight what you want to bring forward and want to attention at and you contour that you want to recede or don’t want attention on. If you have a chubby nose, you can draw thin strips of contour and highlight in the middle, it would give an illusion of thinner nose. if you have a broad forehead you can do a bit of contouring on the forehead and that would give you an illusion of smaller forehead. if you have a small chin, you could highlight your chin it would make your chin look longer. It is all about creating illusion with makeup. This is a full on glam and not a very day time thing. It’s a lot of product but great for showing what all you can do with makeup. π So suit your style, use whatever products you have and give it a go. Once you get a rough idea, it would become your second nature to contour or highlight your own features. π
There are a lot of lovely posts on IMBB related to contouring, body contouring, clown contouring and baking, contouring hacks,Β highlighting, strobing, dos and don’ts of strobing, nontouringΒ , draping, and what not. Give them a read and things would be clearer to you. π
Below is a self explanatory pic for your help. π
PS : You don’t necessarily have to highlight underneath the cheek contour. I just do it because it works for me.
I used Artis brushes for application. Thicker ones for cheek contour application and thinner one for the nose. Make sure you are making a straight line for you nose contouring or else your nose will look crooked. π
I used a beauty blender to blend it all. Mostly I’d blend highlight first and then blend the contour. You can prefer whatever suits your style.
Then I’d do a light dusting of loose powder all over with a fluffy powder brush. I’d bake the highlight with loose powder and go over with a powder contour over my cream contour. Mostly I’d use a powder blush but you may use a cream blush if you prefer.
Dust off excess powder with a clean powder brush.
Do the rest of your makeup and flaunt your glam! π
