Ingredients:

DHC Lip Cream

Lanolin Oil: I was so excited to see Lanolin oil as the first ingredient. The use of lanolin in skin care has a history dating back to 700 BC. Ancient Greeks used lanolin as a moisturizer. This oil is commonly found in lotions, creams, especially nipple creams and lip balms. The main source of Lanolin oil is sheep. It is a very thick substance derived from the sebaceous glands of sheep, once the wool has been shorn. Lanolin oil closely resembles the natural oil that our body produces. That is the reason it works as a great moisturizer, but in the late 1960’s, there has been some concerns raised over the safety of using lanolin in cosmetics. Saying that this ingredient is causing irritation and sensitizing the skin. This caused because of the pesticides that has used in sheep farms and not refining the lanolin properly. Later some new methods have been introduced to get pure and clean lanolin in to the market. Don’t worry. The collection of lanolin will not harm the animal.

Caprylic acid: It is a fatty acid that has great anti-fungal properties. It also helps to restore the healthy pH levels of the skin.

Candelilla Wax: It is a vegan alternative to beeswax. Candelilla wax is rich in nutrients and can easily get absorbed into the skin. It also helps to bind other ingredients.

Beeswax: Beeswax has great anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It helps to cure eczema and dry skin.

Squalane: It is an oil derived from shark liver or from plants like olives.  It has anti-oxidant properties and keeps skin healthy by making the structure of the outer layer of skin intact.

Panax Ginseng Root Extract: It is an anti-aging ingredient which helps in maintaining skin elasticity.

DHC Lip Cream

My Experience with DHC Lip Cream:

I have been using this lip cream religiously from the past one year. My first lip cream was actually a gift from a friend. Since then, I never stopped using it and I am on my 5th lip cream. I am actually addicted to this product. DHC lip cream comes in an apricot colored lipstick like packaging.

The cream is light yellow in color and looks transparent when applied on the lips.  The cream has thick consistency but glides smoothly over lips. I do not wear any lipstick or lip gloss during day time. I like to go with my bare lips because I do not feel comfortable wearing lipsticks and if I wear something on my lips, I won’t stop licking. So, I cannot comment much about how it works under the lipstick. I use this lip cream only during night, before hitting the bed.  It gives a slightly glossy look.  When I wake up in the morning, my lips will always look moisturized and stay soft through the whole day without any dry peeling on the lips.

DHC Lip Cream

This lip cream has no fragrance or added colors. But the quantity you get for the price is so less, you can finish off this lip cream in just two months.  The claims of getting rid of vertical lines on lips is true but it took four months for me to see visible results. Now my lips are so happy and are ready to face the chilling winters 🙂
