Diet for Healthy Hair

Just like your skin and body, hair too thrive on a balanced healthy diet. A poor diet will be fast enough to show you damages done to the skin and hair and so can bad habits like smoking, drinking and lack of sleep. Including some super foods to your diet daily and weekly can change the way your hair are aging and make them look healthier like your prime. Take a look at the diet you can have for healthy hair:

Walnuts

The oils present in walnuts can improve the elastin of the hair and also promote hair growth. Walnuts also have copper to maintain natural hair color lustrous. Walnuts gives your hair much needed oils without which they become prone to breakage.Have a handful of mixed nuts daily.

Spinach

Iron deficiency will result in hair loss and lack lustre hair, eating iron rich foods can change the way your hair are. Try to include it twice a week at least.

Carrots

Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which the body turns into vitamin A. Vitamin A can do wonders for your scalp and hair roots and growth.Have some daily.

Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt has vitamin B5 and vitamin D which will help to strenghten hair roots and follicles.

Salmon and other fish:

The omega-3 fatty acids in fish are the most needed food by your hair, and the body cannot make omega-3. Fish like halibut are also rich in magnesium, another essential element for healthy hair.Try to eat it thrice a week.

Lentils

Our everyday humble dal is packed with protein, iron, zinc, and biotin. This can do wonders to your hair especially if you are a vegetarian. Have it daily.

Beans:

A hair care institute diet chart mentions eating rajma and chole once a week, my friend told me about this one. Well, beans and legumes like kidney beans are great protein for your hair and also would combat biotin deficiencies.

Wholegrain:

Wholegrain breakfast like cereals have a hair-healthy dose of zinc, iron and B vitamins. These can be had everyday as a pre-dinner light snack to curb cravings too.

Eggs

Whole eggs are a great source of vitamin D for your hair. Include at least one daily.

Rich in vitamin C these help in circulation to scalp’s tiny blood vessels that feed the follicles.Vitamin C would also help against hair breakage.

Sweet Potatoes

Like carrots, sweet potatoes are rich in beta carotene which the body coverts to Vitamin A, which will work wonder for your hair. This will also help against dandruff and itchy scalp.

I have included walnuts, egg whites, almonds, and other supplements including biotin and magnesium as well, for my hair loss and I can see some changes already. It is best to eat the above on a daily or weekly basis so your hair can be maintained at their healthiest best.

  3. This post has come at the right time.. my hair is going through the worst phase ever. Hairfall,thinning,dandruff and some weird curls. *waaa* *waaa*
