Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002 Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hey, ladies!

Since every Company and their cat is launching palette after palette of highlighters, I thought it is time to share a highlighter review with you. Today I am reviewing a gorgeous highlighter from Christian Dior. So, let us get cracking.

Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002 Review

Price: $56 for 5.95g
Product Description:
What it is:
A light and airy highlighting powder with a highly-concentrated formula and illuminating pigments.
What it does:
With its virtually imperceptible texture, Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer reveals glowing skin for a radiantly luminous complexion. The universal shade can be adapted to any skin tone and comes with a mini kabuki brush. Applied in gentle touches, the powder highlights areas of the face to catch and reflect light.

Packaging:
The product comes packaged in the same packaging as Dior’s setting powder. So much so that not only is the compact same, even the accessories, namely the kabuki brush it comes with, is the same! Which, to me, feels kind of weird. It feels like the Company couldn’t even be bothered to rework the packaging or the brush to suit the product. Who in their right minds uses a Kabuki buffing brush to apply a highlighter, after all! There is no way you can get any sort of placement of product on your face with that brush.

The compact itself looks extremely pretty. As I mentioned, it is the same compact as their setting powders – the Diorskin Nude Air Powders and also the Nude Air Glow Powder. I had been eyeing the compact for a while now but wasn’t keen on picking up another setting powder. But, when I saw these new highlighters in the same packaging, well, you know the rest.

The silver compact itself looks luxurious and has the Dior design on top. By the look of it, one would expect the compact to be metallic and have the heft of a Guerlain compact. But it does not. It is fairly lighter but not to the point where it would feel cheap or tacky. I think the weight (or lack of it) would work well from the travel perspective.

You open the compact and see a plastic separator. It has a decent mirror, too. The powder itself has this beautiful inlay “NUDE AIR”. It looks absolutely beautiful; so much so that you don’t want to use the product, lest the design fades away.

My Experience with Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002:

Shade:
This is a light pink highlighter with a metallic sheen and warm undertones. Why did I pick this and not 001 Nude Glow, which was more beige or 003 Golden Glow, which was more golden? Those shades were more likely to complement my warm Indian skin tone too, right? Actually, there are a couple of reasons for that:

I have a plethora of highlighters which are in similar shades of beige and gold as those are the shades we tend to get attracted towards. This results in the fact that we have half a dozen highlighters – from various companies – which basically look the same, once applied. I wanted to break that norm and experiment with a different hue.

I think this shade is extremely interesting and unique as one doesn’t come across too many pink highlighters which are this pale and have warm undertones. The moment a Company creates a pink toned highlighter – the target audience which is probably taken into account is Caucasian. And the pink highlighter would tend to have cooler undertones.

This highlighter was actually supposed to be an unofficial re-release of last year’s limited edition highlighter in the shade Dior Glowing Gardens, which was all a rage and had gotten sold out before you could say “Christian Dior”!!

All in all, I am loving this shade. I do feel that sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between highlighters, once applied, because you would go for a light wash of colour and buff it through. The swatches can be discernibly different, but honestly, once you apply them, the differences are more nuanced.

And yes, even though Instagram may tell us otherwise, applying highlighter like a stripe on your cheek isn’t very flattering in real life. But, to each his/her own. The shade is quite metallic when swatched. However, the shade can be built up or sheered out easily.

Texture:
The texture of 002 Pink Glow is like a traditional powder highlighter. Though the metallic sheen of it looks slightly wet on skin, the product itself is unlike the creamy powder highlighters nowadays – like the ones from Becca. It is finely milled, smooth and extremely blendable.

Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002 Close Up

It goes on smoothly and blends well on the skin. It does not seem to emphasise my pores or texture of my skin; all said and done, I am on the wrong side of 30. Considering that the texture is traditional powder type it did not kick up any dust either.

Pigmentation:
It has good pigmentation. A little goes a fairly long way. You can blend it and buff it to make it look like a subtle glow or build it up for the intense wet shine. Refer my pictures – I have applied it over the cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and the cupid’s bow.

Longevity:
The product wears exceptionally well. It stays put for 7-8 hours, which is a lot on my oily skin.

Pros of Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002:

• Finely milled, soft, silky smooth powder.
• Absolutely beautiful and a somewhat unique shade.
• Frosted sheen – rather than shimmer or glitter content.
• Blends easily.
• Fairly long-lasting.
• The colour can be made to look subtle or pronounced.
• Does not emphasise the texture or pores of my skin.
• Did not break me out.
• A little product goes a long way.
• Lovely packaging.

Cons of Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002:

• The kabuki brush that comes is a waste.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder 002?
I am enjoying this highlighter. I find it works well with my NC30 skin tone, which was one of my apprehensions when picking up this product. I had wondered if going with pink was the right thing to do. But I am delighted with this. Will I repurchase? I think in terms of shade, this is fairly unique and a good quality product. So yes, it does merit its presence in your vanity. It isn’t your run of the mill product.
