Dior Diorsnow UV Shield Brightening Illuminating UV Protection SPF 50 Review

Hello everyone,

During these hot summer months, it is absolutely essential to have a good sunscreen/SPF product. Though I do have a lot of SPF makeup, I was looking for something I could just wear on its own or under makeup which is when I came across this product and decided to give it a go.  This review will be on the “Diorsnow Brightening Illuminating UV Protection with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum Translucent SPF 50.”

Dior Diorsnow UV Shield Brightening Illuminating UV Protection SPF 50

Product Description:
A powerful formula that contains Edelweiss from the Dior Garden in Switzerland to support the natural two-level self-defense system of the skin, resulting in a radiant, crystalline complexion.

What it is formulated to do:
To truly protect skin, outer protection from UV rays is not enough—skin needs inner cellular protection as well. Enriched with Edelweiss from the Dior Garden in Switzerland, this formula supports the skin’s natural two-level self-defense system. Moisturized, even, and luminous, the skin is effectively protected, all day long.

My Experience with Dior Diorsnow UV Shield Brightening Illuminating UV Protection SPF 50:

Packaging:  Comes in a very sleek and simple squeeze tube.Very handy and easy to carry around too.

Texture/Consistency:  This product is a bit on the thick side, but it is not too thick. It spreads easily but it does take a minute or so massaging it into the skin for it to fully absorb.

Shade:  Even though this product claims to be translucent, it has a very strong white tint when applied initially. It will honestly make you look like a pale ghost for a few seconds, but after a few rubs, most of the white cast does fade away, but a hint of it is still left behind which gives that brightened “gori gori skin” effect. The effect is not very natural looking (but it still doesn’t look very unnatural either, I just feel you can see a bit more whiteness on the skin than with any other sunscreens) and I assume this would be a bit difficult to work with especially for those with deep/dark skin tones, but since I fall into the category of “light medium skin tone,” it is not that huge of a con for me.

Look and Finish on skin:  The brightening effect does make the skin look a bit more even toned and radiant. It gives a very glowy and dewy look to skin. For this result, I feel this product will not be loved by those with oily skin. The glowy base that this product provides does look nice and balances the look when worn under matte foundations. When I have worn this under makeup, I have found that my face looked shinier far more earlier than it would otherwise. Though it did not reduce the wear time of my makeup and did not break it down, I felt I needed to do touchups and blotting more frequently.

Due to the very white color of this product, it may leave a white cast, but since I usually wear this during the day and not during nighttime, I don’t have to worry about white cast from flash photography.

Feel on skin:  Even when it gets fully absorbed into the skin, it leaves a slight sticky/tacky feeling on the skin. The feeling doesn’t go away even after a couple of hours, but since I would usually wear this under makeup, this doesn’t bother me much. It is only when I wear it on its own or when I go out to run errands does the tackiness bother me slightly.  I feel this gives me enough hydration on its own to keep my skin comfortable. I don’t feel the need to pair this product with another moisturizer. For reference, my skin is usually dry, but in summer time, it’s a bit towards normal with a few dry patches.  It has never irritated my skin nor does it clog my pores.

Results:  I have worn this product on its own without any additional sunscreen on bright and sunny days. I have worn this when I went biking during mid-day and I literally got no tan on my face which makes me believe that the sun protection in this is more than adequate and also efficient.

Fragrance:  This product has a fresh floral perfume scent which is very pleasant and does linger on the skin for some time.

Overall, I do like this product mainly because it is a very effective sun protection. There are some factors I do not enjoy very much, i.e., the slightly tacky feel and the fact that it makes my face get shiny during the day and the high price. For all these reasons, I will still recommend this item provided you are not that bothered by these possible cons.

  1. I have used this product and totally loved it. It makes the skin look shinier and flawless. A little loose powder or compact to settle the product and you are left with fresh looking face for the day. 🙂

  2. Now that’s the kind of sun protection we seek from every such product, but then not everyone can be Dior. It’s amazing how it has prevented your skin from getting tanned.
