Dior Fluid Stick – 754 Pandore Review

Dior Fluid Stick – 754 Pandore

I’m more practical about buying makeup than I used to be. I can rein in my excitement about new releases and remind myself that I already have a lot of makeup. However, once in a while there’ll be something that makes me go MUST HAVE MUST HAVE and makes me feel makeup-obsessed again. Recently, for me, that was the Dior Fluid Stick. I have it in 754 Pandore.

From the Dior Beauty website:

Dior Addict Fluid Stick enables a flawless application in a single sweep: the high-impact colour and long wear of a classic lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss, all in a thin film that delivers sensational comfort.

Price:

35 USD

The Dior Fluid Stick has beautiful, sturdy packaging. It’s in a longish (about 4 inches), clear acrylic tube with substantial weight, for a lip product. The tube shows a lipstick bullet shape, but twisting off the cap reveals a wand applicator.

The Fluid Stick is a lipstick-lipgloss hybrid. The liquid formula goes on the lips smoothly. It’s neither runny nor thick/creamy, it’s a good in-between. There is a touch of stickiness when it’s freshly applied on the lips, especially when the amount deposited on the lips is more than necessary, but as the shine of the finish fadesthe slightly tacky feel goes away completely.I find it comfortable to wear.
It has a sweetish, artificial scent that fades quickly and there’s a slightly sweet taste to it.

As for application, I do have some issues with achieving a totally even finish, which I think may be due to the applicator, an elongated heart shape which loads on too much product, and the formula itself, which I think is better applied in light layers. When I swipe on the whole glob that the wand grabs from the bottle, I end up with some areas that have less product than the rest of my lips. A lip brush may be used to remedy this, or do as I do and dab/swipe on a light layer after another with the fingertip.

The applicator does have a pointed tipthough that helps apply the product precisely, good for such a bright color as Pandore. It’s also good for highly pigmented lip products, which is what this is. The Pandore Fluid Stick is saturated with color. Speaking of color…the Fluid Stick is available in 16 shades, a lot of them bright and in the red end of the spectrum. I think Pandore is one of the brightest and reddest in the range. Pandore is a bright, coral red. It’s a vibrant shade that deserves an exclamation point!

Sometimes Pandore pulls more pink on me, other times it looks more orangey. Which is not such a mystery, since coral, as defined on the Merriam-Webster website is ‘an orange pink color’ (which is how I’ve always thought of it too). I think it looks good on my warm, NC35 skin tone and I like how it looks worn full-on bright and dabbed lightly. Initially it has a glossy finish, but the shine does wear off after a while and it dries down to a stain.

This wears long for me. After about several hours, with a full meal and snacks/drinks in between, I’m still left with a soft, but noticeable wash of color on my lips.

I don’t find the formula hydrating, but it’s not drying either. It’s kind to my lips and doesn’t leave them peeling or irritated after use.

  1. I have this color also, and had the same issue with the applicator. The ladies at the Dior counter have these disposable applicators to try this product on which are exactly like the gloss applicator. I asked for a few extra and they happily obliged. Now I just get how much product I need and no excess. Perfect!

  2. In love with your lip swatch Ida…my heart surely missed few beats and breath was holded……amazing. Dior itself brings a classy image, great product. Love it on you *puchhi*
