Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush Review

A blush that’s tailor-made for your skin? Yeah, right. But it’s Dior! I wasn’t sure what to make of the Rosy Glow blush at first.  Is the customized color claim a sales gimmick? Or is it a product that makes sense and gives you its high price’s worth? All I knew was, I was curious.

Product Claim:

Rosy Glow reacts with the moisture in each skin type, giving a delicious and subtle blush to the cheeks. When applied, the initially fresh, light colour develops into a rosy blush to suit each individual complexion, for an ultra-natural, tailor-made healthy glow that lasts all day.

Price:

44 USD

Rosy Glow has a lip and nail counterpart—a lip balm, called Lip Glow which I have also reviewed, and Nail Glow, a nail lacquer. They’re all pink, sheer, and claim to create a customized shade based on your chemistry and what not. It’s an attractive idea for someone like me who prefers to keep my look soft and natural.

Also attractive is this blush’s packaging. It’s in a compact with a silvery, reflective surface, and the Dior logo in the middle. It comes with a black velvet pouch, useful for preventing scratches and fingerprints from getting on the compact. The inside is transparent plastic, with two separate sections for the blush and a small brush.

The blush is really pink and bright in the pan. It’s embossed with the Dior monogram and has a light rose scent. The whole thing is very pretty! And very girly. The included brush isn’t bad, I don’t use brushes that come with most products, but this one is soft and will work in a pinch.

When swatched on my hand, the Dior Rosy Glow Blush looks like it would be a chalky mess. In the arm swatch photo below, it looks pale and whitish, but when applied on the cheeks, the initially light, is-it-even-there color turns more rosy and alive as it is blended out. The first time I used this, I put on a lot, thinking it wasn’t showing up, only to see that my cheeks were bright pink already!

So, this is actually a pigmented blush and shouldn’t be applied with a heavy hand. A few layers will do, it’s not chalky at all.  The texture of it is so silky and fine. It blends to a lovely, smooth and natural finish on the skin. Though it looks matte in the pan and even when swatched, it has a subtle glow to it.

The color of Rosy Glow, on my cheeks, is not as blue-toned as it looks in the pan. On me, it is a light-medium rose pink. Being yellow-toned, it’s hard for me to find a pink blush that won’t turn reddish, darker, or take on a peachier tone. Dior Rosy Glow is one of the few pink blushes that remains a true pink on my cheeks. It looks natural, like a light pink flush, and the color looks fresh on the face even after hours of wear. This blush lasts 5-6 hours on my face. For the price, it could last longer, but I think it’s not bad.

Pros of Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush:

  • Lovely presentation – the pinkness, monogram on the blush, sleek compact – it’s nice.
  • The light rose scent of it is subtle and pleasant.
  • The brush included isn’t bad, it’s useful.
  • It applies beautifully, very smooth and blends easily.
  • It has good pigmentation. Don’t judge by a hand swatch or the first few swipes on the cheek.
  • The finish has a nice glow, not shimmer.
  • The color looks fresh and flattering on my cheeks.
  • It remains a true pink on me and doesn’t turn orangey or dark.
  • It lasts 5-6 hours on my skin.

Cons of Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush:

  • The price.

In the end, gimmicky sales tactic or not, this product is beautiful and performs well.  Is it worth the price? That’s still pretty subjective. I think if it’s within your budget and it makes you happy, then it’s worth it.  Just make sure to visit a Dior counter to try it on your face (not hand/arm) before purchasing, to get an idea of how the color will look on your cheeks.
