DIY – Homemade Facial Toner for Beautiful Skin

So today, I will talk about an easy homemade toner which is cost effective and can be used by all skin types. I have been using this toner for over two months now and it has definitely made my skin brighter and healthy.

Let’s begin!

Ingredients Required:

⦁ Rice – 3 tablespoons
⦁ Liquorice roots (mulethi): 1 tablespoon
⦁ Green tea bag: 1 (you can also use loose green tea)
⦁ Orange essential oil (optional): 3-4 drops
⦁ Water: 2 cups (distilled/filtered)

Procedure:

1. Boil the rice in a saucepan with 2 cups of water so that the rice is half cooked. It will take approximately 10 minutes when cooked on medium flame. The water will turn milky.

2. Now, remove the saucepan from the heat source.

3. Add liquorice roots and green tea bag to the water. Let it seep for 5 minutes. Let the mixture cool down.

4. Transfer it into a spray bottle or any old cosmetic container with a small opening.

5. Add 3-4 drops of orange essential oil or any other essential oil. This step is completely optional.

6. The toner is ready to be used.

Uses:

⦁ Facial mist: Spray on the face as a facial mist after cleansing the face with a cleanser
⦁ Toner: Take a cotton pad or cotton ball and soak it with this toner; apply evenly on your face
⦁ Face pack: Mix it with your face pack and get added benefits
⦁ Hairspray: Spray this mixture on hair and it will act as a natural detangler as well as give shine to the hair
⦁ Post-waxing: Spray this toner on your skin post waxing and it will act as an astringent

Shelf Life:

Up to 2 weeks if kept in the refrigerator. If you are using distilled water, the shelf life can be up to 3 weeks when kept in the refrigerator.

⦁ Rice water: Acts as a natural toner, brightens the skin and reduces acne and eczema.
⦁ Liquorice root: Liquorice contains glycyrrhizin which has anti-inflammatory properties; it also reduces age spots and hyperpigmentation of the skin.
⦁ Green tea: We all know that green tea is high in antioxidants. It reduces free radicals on the skin and has anti-aging properties too.
⦁ Health benefits: Liquorice and green tea can be taken internally. If taken regularly, they will make your body and skin healthy.

Results:

I am using this toner for over 2 months now. I use it as a facial mist and in my face packs too. It has definitely reduced the size of my pores. It makes me feel refreshed every time I use it. I spray it on my face in the morning after cleaning my face with water and it wakes me up instantly. I use it post waxing also. It soothes and calms my skin after waxing.

Note: If you notice any changes or smell in this toner please discard and make a fresh batch.
