Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil Lavender & Olive Oil Review

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil – Lavender & Olive Oil

I have been looking for finishing oil for a long time. I was eyeing on Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure Oil Miracle Light Finishing Treatment. I was not sure how it will work. Also, it was pricey. Around INR 1200 for 100ml. Month back, I came across Dove’s new range. I was delighted to see this range and decided to pick one from the local chemist shop.

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil

At present it has 3 variants.

1. Dryness Control
2. Nourished Shine
3. Hair fall Defense (already reviewed HERE)

I wasn’t sure about which one to pick. For my curly hair, dryness and shine should be better to try. I don’t have any major hair fall issues as of now. I finally settled with dryness care. I am not used to frequent oiling. More than oiling , I just need this as finishing oil. I prefer oil over leave in conditioner.

Product Description:

My Take on the product:

I actually like how the product looks. It is a glass bottle with a pump to dispense the oil. I don’t think it is completely leak proof. It looks very classy. As I have already mentioned, I was looking for finishing oil which means I require a travel friendly packing. It fails to satisfy me. I would definitely not prefer carrying a glass bottle in my hand bag. I am sure all of us would ignore that as soon you we see the bottle. It gives a luxury feel.

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil review

The oil is quite light weight. It comes with a very feminine floral fragrance. I was happy to find a product with essentials oils. We already know the goodness of lavender and olive oil. If you want to know more, read about lavender and olive oil here and here.

I was also curious to check its lofty claims. Goodness of overnight oiling in 30 minutes. This is a hefty claim to make. I decided to test it. I massaged the oil on my scalp and applied it on my hair from root to tip. Washed it as usual. To my surprise, I found my dry frizzy hair very smooth. I will not say like advertisement model but definitely better then my usual. I use them when I don’t find time for overnight oiling. It does work for me.

It works well as a finishing product too. It gives a mild shine. This tempts me to try their nourishing shine variant as well. It helps with my fly away. I don’t feel heavy at all provided you use very less product.

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil pump

Pros:

• Good fragrance
• Pump dispenser
• Doesn’t weigh the hair down
• Controls frizz
• Can be used as a hair oil or finishing oil/serum

Cons:
• Bulky packaging and not leak proof pump dispenser.

It is light weight oil that nourishes my hair so well irrespective of its usage before or after cleansing. I would whole heartedly recommend this product. It is worth every penny. I am now tempted to try their other variants as well. Actually, my mom has picked nourished shine after seeing its effect on me. It doesn’t claim much but does what it claims.

IMBB rating : 4/5 (-1 for their packaging) .

  2. these oils sound nice but I like to stick to the conservative oils. I feel they work better for my hair. glad this one worked for you. I loved the packaging. 🙂

  3. This sounds like a dream product for me, keeping oil in my hair longer gives me headache, the goodness of overnight oiling in half an hour, too awesome 🙂

  4. thank you for the info, I love hair oil and my favorite is pro naturals moroccan argan oil which is very good for hair, keeps mine soft and healthy. 😀
