Dove Essential Nourishment Body Lotion Review

Dove Essential Nourishment Body Lotion

I have always trusted Dove for its products. They have been around for ages, and I totally get why. Their products are nice-smelling, they actually work, and they don’t burn a hole in your pocket. They have a wide range of products, and you are guaranteed to find people raving about each and every product line of theirs. I bought this lotion last month, on the never-ending search we have for THE perfect body lotion, and have used it almost every day since then. I expected good things from this lotion, being of Dove, and having tried another lotion of this brand before that I absolutely adored! And after a month of usage, I can confidently say that I don’t regret buying this lotion even a bit, and I’m going to tell you why in this review.

My Experience with Dove Essential Nourishment Body Lotion:

This is my second Dove lotion. Earlier, I used to use the GoFresh variant (green tea and cucumber), and absolutely love it to bits, even more than I like this one! It was totally not greasy yet hydrating, and smelled amazing – what more can I ask for?

On my faith in the GoFresh one, I decided to try this one as well. And boy, I’m glad I did! This lotion comes in a regular flip cap bottle with the typical Dove logo on the front. It is pure white in color, and is really thick in consistency.

It absorbs wonderfully into the skin, and isn’t greasy at all, unless you slather a lot of it on (which I don’t recommend). It keeps my skin hydrated the whole day, and I don’t feel the need to reapply.
It smells pretty nice, just like the classic Dove bathing bar, but with a hint of stage makeup smell in it. I wish it smelled floral or something instead! I require very little of this lotion at a time. I think if applied in excess of the required quantity, it won’t make you greasy, but might make you all lotion-y when you sweat. But then, almost all lotions do that to me if I apply too much, so this isn’t really a con, now, is it?

And yes, I did try using this after taking a shower with a Dove bathing bar, and it did help the lovely Dove smell stay on for a bit longer than usual! 🙂

Also, this contains parabens, for those of you who are bothered with it. I personally don’t mind.

Cons of Dove Essential Nourishment Body Lotion

• The hint of the smell of stage makeup in it 🙁

To sum up, I really love this lotion, and it is my new favorite (after the GoFresh one, of course). Do try this if you have thirsty skin that doesn’t want to be greasy but just wants to be supple and moisturized all day! Dove has hit the nail on the head with this lotion!

  1. I used to use this before.. i have dry skin and this lotion does help keep my skin moist, it is non greasy too. I guess in between they had stopped manufacturing it, because i could not find it anywhere. Seems like it is available now.. GLAD 😀 !!!!!!!

  2. i like dove too…bt their shampoos dont suit me 🙁 i have oily hair and scalp and there is too much moisture content in their shampoos
good review 🙂 🙂 wanna try this one!!!

    1. I actually find some of their shampoos a bit drying 😀 I’m scared to say this in public, because I know there are some people who will pounce on me and make me take back what I just said, but hey, that’s how it is for my hair. 😛
And btw, my head produces hardly any oil on its own. That’s why I keep feeding it conditioner, and recently glycerin and almond oil. 😀
      Thanks, Somreeta 🙂

This is not for use on the face, but on the body only. I don’t think you have oily body skin, do you? 😛
This will work for normal or dry skin (on the body) well.

  6. omg that’s funny/ I have never smelt stage makeup. 😛 One of my friend swears by her dove body lotions. currently addicted to kiehl’s and vaseline. guess would give dove a shot after this. 🙂

    1. I don’t like the smell of stage makeup 😛 Reminds me of, well, the stage 😛 😀
I have tried all available variants of Vaseline body lotions (except the Healthy White), and I honestly think that Dove is way better than Vaseline when it comes to making body lotion.
Do give Dove a shot, Rati 🙂
