Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask Review

Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask Review

I got this repair treatment mask after I read a few reviews on the other products from this range.  I was having a bad case of splits since I was ignoring my hair for 3 months.  I was just using shampoo and conditioner and the Bangalore pollution took its toll on my hair which already was not in a great condition.  I was switching products fast and it damaged my hair severely.  My hair got super frizzy, extremely tangled, and I ended up with a dry scalp.  I was using L’Oreal Smooth Intense range products and it was beautiful.

My Experience with Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask:

The mask comes in a white rounded triangle tub, white in colour, and creamy.  The mask has the usual Dove fragrance.  The mask glides smoothly in the hair.  While rinsing off, it requires less amount of water.  It can be used as an everyday conditioner as well.  I was using it alternatively with L’Oreal conditioner and once that finished, I started using the mask regularly.

Hair Mask 1

It really took care of my splits and prevented further splits.  My hair was soft, but not as good as it was with L’Oreal.  It doesn’t make hair smooth and doesn’t control frizz. It just protects the hair to an extent.  I was using Nyle Dryness Control Shampoo.  I got Patanjali Milk Protein and then it started getting bad again. This mask even though effective, has silicones in it.

Hair Mask 3

Pros of Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask:

  • Creamy texture.
  • Can be used as an everyday conditioner.
  • It repairs existing splits to an extent and prevents further splits.
  • It makes your hair look healthy and shiny.
  • Amazing smell.
  • Price is good for the quantity.
  • Only a coin-sized amount is enough.
  • The tub will last for good 3 months even if used twice a week.

Hair Mask 4

Cons of Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask:

  • Contains silicones.
  • Contains parabens.
  • May cause build up.
  • Does not control frizz and does not moisturize hair.
  • Turns hair greasy the very next day.

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

I recommend this to people who are already using sulphate shampoos and don’t mind silicones in their hair. It really does what it claims. Try something else for moisturisation and frizz though.

Do I Recommend Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask?

It’s a good mask and the claims are fulfilled though I am right now trying to avoid silicones and parabens.  I need something to control my frizz as well. Olive oil is enough to keep my hair free from splits and completely chemical free. Since I found my sulphate and parabens free shampoo, I am going to switch to L’Oreal conditioner as soon as this finishes. It doesn’t contain parabens and silicones (what a relief, its my HG conditioner!)

      1. Hi Chars,

I haven’t used the mask yet, but the L’Oreal repair 5 shampoo and conditioner works best for my hair 🙂 Have you tried it?

        1. Total Repair made my hair dry… i use Matrix ultra hydrating conditioner its also parabean and sls free… will try L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing shampoo maybe:)

  2. Good review Dharani. I have Matix hydracare mask. It is doing its job very well. 🙂 It will end soon, Only a little amount is left. I might give this a try.

To all the imbb team, please help,,,
one needs to apply these mask after shampoo or after conditioner….??? *confused*

      1. after conditioner. the sequence is shampoo plus conditioner and mask. the leave on is with out the usual conditioner or mask.

        1. ok i read just now if u use the trio shampoo+conditioner+serum it works well… loreal-smooth-intense-smoothing-shampoo alone isn’t great… here’s the review:
          https://makeupandbeauty.com/loreal-smooth-intense-smoothing-shampoo/

well am using matrix ultra hydrating conditioner it is good for me… only thing is miss is shine …hair looks bit dull.. does the loreal-smooth-intense-smoothing conditioner (minus its shampoo and serum range give ur hair that shine ? )

  3. I use the shampoo & conditioner from this range n that suits me the best out of so many i’ve tried! so i’m really tempted to try this, thanks for reviewing I was really lookin fwd to this 1 🙂

  4. i am using patanjali dear. btw dont use it. even though it has no sulphates and all it makes your hair so dry in the long run and extremely greasy and frizzy. its like washing your hair with a dishwasher. its having a neutral detergent. it removes oil completely from your scalp unlike normal shampoos which contain softeners to combat with sulphate effects. you can try tbs rain forest range. they are comppletely sulphate free and paraben free. get the shampoo and conditioner from loreal smooth intense. works wonders. serum is also really great from the loreal range

  5. I’m using l’oreal total repair 5 shampoo conditioner serum and mask ….. Its ah-mazing. I’ve started loving my hair like never before. I didn’t expect it to work and within week my hairfall was totally gone. Must try ladies!
