Dove shampoo product description

My Take on Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo:

Though I have a very oily scalp, my hair feels dry and frizzy and requires a lot of conditioning treatments. The disadvantage of many conditioning treatments is that while they make the hair soft and reduce frizz, they also end up weighing down the hair, which is disastrous for my already flat hair. The Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo claims to be infused with African Macadamia Oil and that it leaves hair sublimely silky, not greasy or weighed down. Sounds good!

The shampoo comes in a very aesthetically pleasing bottle which is an opaque white at the bottom and becomes gradually translucent towards the top. The translucent section looks yellow due to the color of the shampoo itself. Since it is translucent, you can see how much product is left in the bottle. The bottle has a yellow flip cap which closes tightly and can be carried along while travelling without worrying about spills.

Dove shampoo

The shampoo is the same yellow color as in the bottle and is translucent. It has a gel-like consistency, which makes it a little bit difficult to spread it on the hair. I find that I need to use more product with this shampoo as compared to other shampoos. The shampoo produces a decent amount of foam, not too much nor too less.

Though it takes some effort in spreading the shampoo in the hair, it cleans really well. My scalp feels clean and fresh. There is no greasiness or residue left behind. This shampoo did not irritate my scalp or cause any hair fall.

Dove shampoo packaging

The shampoo has a very strong spicy scent. All Dove products usually have mild pleasant scents. This is the first Dove product that I have come across which has a less than desirable scent. Initially, the scent feels quite different and good, but it is so strong and lingers in the hair even after two days of using it. It feels quite pungent as if you have applied onion paste on your hair!

Dry oil shampoo

As for the main claim of this shampoo, i.e. silky hair with weightless nourishment – I agree that it does a really good job at that. I get almost frizz-free hair without it looking flat. My hair looks quite moisturized and glossy.

Pros of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo:

  • Makes hair silky soft without making it flat.
  • The effect lasts for at least two days.
  • Cleans the scalp well.
  • Keeps hair looking hydrated without any greasiness.
  • Controls frizz well.
  • Does not cause hair fall.
  • Silicone free.
  • Aesthetically pleasing bottle.

Cons of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo:

  • Has a very strong spicy scent.
  • The shampoo has a gel-like consistency which makes it difficult to spread and needs more product than regular shampoos.

IMBB Rating:
3.5/5

Would I Recommend Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo?
I really like the results of this shampoo, but unfortunately, the scent is too strong. Definitely not for people who are sensitive to scents.

    1. Oh no, Why Shikha? I really love Dove products! 🙂 This is the first one I have come across which I cannot really recommend to everyone due to the strong scent. But the results are really good!
