I am here to share my latest skin care purchase from Dr. Brandt which claims to resolve oily skin concerns. Dr Brandt is one of my favorite skin care brands considering that I have tried many products from this brand and they haven’t disappointed me at all. However, I am not overtly impressed with this particular anti-ageing mattifying lotion as it seems perfect for oily skin type, but ineffective on signs of ageing. My Experience with Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion:
The lotion comes in a sleek metallic opaque bottle packaging with a pump dispenser with a safety cap. It does have a strong medicinal smell which is not overpowering thankfully. Overall, the packaging is user friendly and travel friendly.
The pale yellow gel lotion has the perfect consistency, neither thin nor rich, just apt to effortlessly spread on the skin. It also absorbs fast with gentle massaging strokes without leaving any greasy or heavy feel on the skin. It gives a primer type of feel on the skin, but I won’t say it gives a silicone-y feel on my skin. I mean unlike other moisturizers, it partly hydrates our skin and mostly refines and delivers a powdery matte finish on the skin, prepping it up for the next step. Now, this might work for excessive oily skin, especially in summers, but considering that I have combination skin with oily T zone and dry flaky cheeks, I am both delighted as well disappointed to the see results. I mean I do not think it makes my skin soft or hydrated, it does get absorb quickly leaving a matte powdery feel on the skin while the dry patches on my cheeks feel much more dry, making it difficult to layer on makeup. Since it hardly adds hydration to my skin, I cannot notice any visible change in fine lines or signs of ageing; in fact, it seems to emphasize these issues beneath makeup. I say so because I have used this lotion as a base for my makeup and I see fine lines and laugh lines every single tim, even while wearing CC creams or tinted moisturizers.
Moreover, dewy and shiny makeup appears more youthful over matte skin hence I am more concerned with soft and supple skin as of now. However, I do see visible changes in large open pores as they appear less prominent while my T zone appears lesser oily than before, but it is certainly not intended for treating dryness or dry skin. Honestly, I had to incorporate intense hydrating, anti-ageing serum in my skin care additionally ever since I switched to this mattifying lotion. The irony is that I am certainly happy by its pore shrinking and toning features as my skin looks refined, even toned post using this lotion but limited only to my T zone and open large pores on the apple of cheeks.
Overall, I feel that this mattifying lotion is good for oily skin while other normal, combination, dry skin types should skip it. Considering its effects on my skin plus the hefty price tag, I would not repurchase it in the future.
