Drunk Elephant Lippe Review

Hello everyone,
Drunk Elephant is slowly but surely becoming my all time favorite skin care brand. I have had such good luck with their products and envision myself repurchasing those products over and over again. Considering the fact that I am a lip balm addict and as if I didn’t have enough of them in my collection, when I saw this lip balm from my favorite brand I couldn’t help myself. This review will be on the Drunk Elephant Lippe lip balm.
Drunk Elephant Lippe Review

About the Product:
An antiaging and protective, treatment lip balm that moisturizes, volumizes, nourishes, and rejuvenates to give lips a youthful look.

What it is formulated to do:
Lippe™ is enriched with an exotic blend of avocado, mongongo, cranberry and marula oils to deeply moisturize, replenish, hydrate, and protect super delicate lips. It’s formulated with a unique combination of peptides and sea fern algae to moisturize the lips and help restore collagen, increasing lip moisture and adding volume to give the lip line better definition. It protects against free radical damage while it aids in preventing collagen breakdown, and Vitamin C and green tea leaf help repair the effects of UV exposure. Use this buttery, luxurious balm to soften and plump rough, parched lips, keeping them top condition.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This product is non-toxic and does not contain any dyes, colorants or fragrances—natural or synthetic.

My Experience with Drunk Elephant Lippe:

Packaging:
I don’t love the packaging nor do I hate it. It comes in a sturdy plastic stubby retractable tube with a secure cap. I do not like the fact that the tip is very big in diameter hence you cannot be precise with your application. I do have naturally thin lips hence it surely gets out of my lip line when I am applying it without glancing at the mirror. But the good thing here is that it is colorless. It is an issue if you have foundation around your lips and if it gets on it, it slowly starts to smear the foundation.

Texture:
This lip balm applies like butter on the lips. Once it comes in contact with your body heat, it melts on your lips and creates a protective coating over it. The layer of it does not feel too thick or greasy (like Vaseline) nor is it too shiny. This quality makes it a great lip balm to use under lipstick or liquid lipstick (just make sure to blot it slightly before applying the lip color).

Results:
This lip balm has tall claims like it will moisturize, volumize, nourish and rejuvenate. I just found it to be good at being moisturizing but still it wasn’t as intensively hydrating as like my Sisley Paris Confort Extreme Levres Nutritive Lip Balm (which literally heals my lips in matter of hours). I found that with heavily chapped lips I need to give this lip balm continuous application for a couple of days till my lips get back to their soft supple state. As for the claim of it being volumizing, I don’t see any difference in plumping of my lips.

Staying Power:
I do not find the hydrating properties of this lip balm to be long-lasting. It lasts a good 3 or so hours on my lips with light drink breaks. But, once it wears off, my lips again start to feel dry and in need of reapplication.

Fragrance and Taste:
This lip balm has a very mild, sweet scent and taste. It is very pleasant and the sweet taste has me licking my lips often (which is not a good idea since it is supposed to stay on my lips to work, not in my tummy). I love the list of all the natural ingredients it contains.

Overall:
This is a good lip balm, but I have used better which also come at cheaper price point. If what attracts you to this lip balm is the all-natural ingredients list, I recommend the John Masters Organics Lip Calm which also has amazing all-natural ingredients for a fraction of price. I will continue using this lip balm till I have it but I don’t see myself repurchasing it.

Pros of Drunk Elephant Lippe:

• Good list of ingredients
• Hydrating
• Soothing
• Helps heal dry lips
• Not too heavy, greasy or shiny
• Can be used under lipsticks
• Mild, sweet scent and taste
• Does not feel waxy

Cons of Drunk Elephant Lippe:

• Overpriced
• Tall list of claims, most of them were not delivered
• Needs to be constantly reapplied
• Applicator is too wide
