e.l.f Studio Bark Baked Eyeshadow Review

Ola bonita chica’s!

Can I just say that it feels amazing to be back on IMBB properly! I mentioned my withdrawals to you and that is slowly getting better as I write these reviews. I am so humbled by my experience here that I am also looking forward to doing an IMBB Sponsored Product post soon. So, wish me luck! Anyway, I have something special for you today to celebrate. This particular company e.l.f does not always have the best eye shadows in the business, but they have certainly redeemed themselves with these Baked Eyeshadows. And, as I love my neutrals, I have found myself going back to this colour several times. Let’s get to it!

Product Description:

This Baked eye shadow comes in 12 or so different colours and they have really surprised me with their performance. The packaging and appearance of these, however, is still okay-ish. These eye shadows come individually packaged with flip top transparent plastic lids. The transparent lids are quite flimsy and I have actually cracked mine already with very little use while travelling. So, not impressed with the packaging! But, what it lacks in packaging, it makes up for in a whopping 3.9 gram of convex product inside. There is also no expiry date printed on the product itself.

Price: A very happy USD 3 for 3.9 grams of product.

My Experience With The E.L.F Studio Bark Baked Eyeshadow:

I am delighted to tell you that I have a lot of wonderful things to say about this product. The baked eye shadows are all in a metallic and shimmery finish. Bark is a wonderful deep metallic brown that can be used in your crease or on your upper lash line and then blended up and out. I have found that this shade does not give an intense colour pay off when used by itself, but does give off a deeper and more beautiful pigmentation when used over a primer or a creamy black base.

It also looks amazing when used foiled, but it lasts for the shortest time this way and tends to crease sooner too. So, use this product by itself or over primer and that is the best way to get a crease free and subtle smokey brown look.

It has a very impressive lasting power and I have only noticed creasing (when not used foiled) after a whole day, which is at least 8 to 10 hours. Bark also applies very smoothly and is true to the pan colour. It blends beautifully as well which is very unlike other e.l.f eye shadows. This is not chalky and does not give any fall out during application.

For the price, these are of superb quality! I have not tried de-potting these yet and probably will not get to do so since this particular item has been stolen off me by a friend who refuses to give it back! Haha! This is also a very versatile brown that I think works great on Indian skin tones and in fact with people of any skin colour.

Bark is the darkest shade they have in the Baked line of eye shadows and I say do not use this foiled but over primer and that is how it works best. If only matte eye shadows are your thing then maybe this is not for you.

Is it a dupe?
I am glad you asked because yes it is! It is a very close dupe of Urban Decay’s Sidecar and also of Silk Natural’s Saddle Up. It comes close to a few MAC and INGLOT ones too of course but they are more deeply pigmented.

Pros of e.l.f Studio Bark Baked Eyeshadow:

• Easily blendable.
• Cheap.
• Insane staying power when used with primer (upto 10 hours!).
• Very versatile shade.

Cons of e.l.f Studio Bark Baked Eyeshadow:

• Packaging is a bit flimsy.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend The E.L.F Studio Bark Baked Eyeshadow?
I would definitely recommend this because it is an absolute steal for $3! I am not sure if you can get e.l.f in India but we definitely need to send the company a mass email petitioning to if they don’t already. And yes, I am definitely looking forward to purchasing more from this line too!
